Tobias Harris wants to come to utah

What I would like to know is how do you know there wasnt anyone talking to Favors last year? And how do you know he was in trade talks the last 3 years? Cause you read it on the internets? Or are you some kind of psychic that knows all? You sound like you have insider knowledge. Tell us who you really are?
Tony Jones, Tony Jones, and Tony Jones. Same reason why we’re currently talking about Harris.

Regardless, you all are significantly missing the point of the question by intentionally getting lost on the nuance of each point. I am not definitively saying Harris is better, or that the value around the league is what the smoke says. I’m simply stating that all that smoke, all that smoke saying how Harris is valued, and all that lack of smoke defining Favors’ value, that the smoke shouldn’t define our decisions but it should absolutely give us cause to ask questions. People immediately jumping on the defensive to argue that the smoke doesn’t significantly favor a much larger perceived value around the league for Harris over Favors are being completely disingenuous, willfully ignorant, or both.

Lineup data suggest that we were better with Joe Johnson and Gobert on the floor together when Johnson was here than Gobert and Favors. Johnson wasn't any good on D but our defense was still fine when he was on the floor and our offense was much better. And Tobias is much better than Johnson was at that stage of his career.
Are you talking about the year when Favors was injured for basically the entirety of it?

I would value Harris over Favors for out team. I think the league would value Harris over Favors as well. But I also think what the league values them at shouldnt really weigh on the Jazz that much. They should get the players that help them win. Values can change quickly in the NBA.

You should read my posts again because I went out of my way to make that point multiple times.

I dont know why you are assuming I am disagreeing with you.
Because I’m referencing perceived value as a source for questioning, and people seem offended and are getting lost on arguing about that perceived value without acknowledging at all the abstract question, and the overall point of my argument.

Nah man... I been team Harris for a long time... Yall acting like this a Rich Paul situation with AD (Lakers or nothing) and 90% of you don't understand the cap or our situation.

Sorry to throw cold water on this but this ain't 2k... wipe the Cheeto crumbs off your chest and put down the controller.

Doritos but i understand

I love Favors, and am all for keeping him if a better opportunity to upgrade isn’t available. With that said. . . getting Tobias Harris presents exactly that opportunity IMO.

The Jazz need guys that can help win in the playoffs. As valuable as Favors is, I think Harris would help more in the postseason.

If he really does want to be here, there’s two routes to make it work. Offer Philly Favors and Exum (plus 2nd round picks) in a sign and trade, or clear out cap space to sign Harris and re-work the Conley deal to make the trade functional after using all the cap space.

It’s time to take risks. If the Jazz have a chance to land TWO near All-Star caliber guys to go with Mitchell, Gobert, Jingles and O’Neale. . . they should pursue all options.

Also better with Crowder and gobert than favors and gobert.
Crazy to me that some people still don't get it

You could look at last year too but replace jj with Crowder
Kinda seems like if you put someone other than favors next to gobert at the 4 who can shoot then the jazz are better.
Tobias harris shot 40% from 3 last year (even better before he went to Philly). 49% from the field and 87% from the line

Our starting lineup would be amazing with Tobias

Yep, a PG that can shoot and create was a much much bigger need for the team than another PF.
A. Not just another pf. A power forward who can shoot and create.
B. A point who can shoot and create is easier to find than a power forward who can. It's kind of in the job description for a point guard. The jazz just stupidly decided to get one who couldn't shoot in the trade for Rubio.
In fact, I believe Mitchell can shoot and create.

Except that when Gobert and Favors played with a PG that could shoot that data flipped. Crazy that people dont see how big of an issue Rubio was. When Mitchell or Neto was PG Favors/Gobert combo was better than Gobert/Crowder.

We also were better with Favors at Center over Gobert last year with the same starting lineup. Does that mean Favors is better than Gobert? Favors Gobert together were also better together last year in the playoffs against OKC and Rockets then either were with Crowder paired with either of them.

I dont think a PF that can create is very important at all. Yes, you can find plenty of PGs that can shoot and create but not at a high level like Conley. There are none available that we could get this year besides Conley and Russell. There are tons of good PFs on the FA market this year that can shoot well and even some that can create. Taking pressure off and Mitchell and creating space for him was the biggest priority. I would also have been okay with switching Mitchell to PG and finding a really good SG as well but I am not sure who that would have been.

Favors has been awesome for us and is a good player. Tobias, especially with Conley at the helm, fits us perfectly.

Adding Conley to Favors makes us a contender for the West Finals. Adding Conley and Tobias, and we are a championship contender.

Crowder and gobert played with Rubio too doe.
Also it's quite telling that favors played 23 minutes per game. Quin an idiot apparently.

Also telling that freaking grandpa Joe Johnson was better next to gobert than favors.

The part about favors being better than gobert doesn't really matter cause gobert is our center.
