Tobias Harris wants to come to utah

Joe took a beating last year it also didn’t help that he played every game.

I think it’s easy for Joe to take a beating when a team has an offense that requires you to only put pressure on two guys. Things should be different when he’s a secondary facilitator and spot-up shooter.

You typed that with a ton of Utah-centric glasses. What team felt like Favors' contract was an overpay? Last year was very team friendly free agent environment. This year it's player friendly.

Harris is good, but I doubt he'll live up to a max contract.

Jazz value him highly, as they should. How much of "on the trading block" has been actual trade discussions or fan/media speculation? Only problem Favors has here is fit. I would view Harris as lateral at absolute best with added cost of removing above replacement level players.

Well, this whole thread is predicated on Tony Jones rumors, so unless we want to pick and choose among those.
But in any case, my point is some of this information should facilitate us asking ourselves those questions. Note that I’m not saying that it means any particular conclusion, just that we should ask ourselves the question. You’re response seems akin to finding reasons to not ask the question.

Agree, Harris might not have us at the top of his list. This is us playing a hypothetical game and hoping.

Also TJ is a little more believable source than what we have heard about Favors.

I am sure he has been discussed by teams but obviously the Jazz like Favors and value him highly. The FO says they are always looking to upgrade every position.

Favors had no other offers. He met with no other teams. Find me a player who has signed a deal in the past two years as large as his who doesn’t close games.

Favors being offered to Chicago for Niko was a TJ report.

He had no offers? Are you saying if the Jazz didn't sign him he wouldn't have been in the league last year?

I heavily disagree.

Favors only played 23 minutes a game last year and never closed games for us because he is a terrible fit next to Gobert. In Haris we would have a 20 ppg scorer that stretches the floor, is a 40% 3 point shooter AND can play 34 minutes and close every game because he would fit perfectly next to Gobert. He would make us significantly better than Favors.

While I hate to appeal to perceived value around the league as being a true gauge of actual value, as its correlation is generally fairly poor, I would have to ask why there are numerous teams discussing giving Harris the max this year, while last year Favors met with nobody and took a deal that was considered an overpay, getting less than 2/3 of what Tobias is looking at, and only having one guaranteed year on the deal. I’d also ask why teams have ponied up multiple assets to acquire Tobias, while nobody has ever bit on an offer for Favors, having been on the block for the past few years? Is there some secret that we know that nobody else in the league is clued in to? I acknowledge the possibility that perhaps you are right, but the drastic disparity in perceived value around the league should be cause enough for some honest self-reflection. Is it everyone else misperceiving this, or is it just us?
What I would like to know is how do you know there wasnt anyone talking to Favors last year? And how do you know he was in trade talks the last 3 years? Cause you read it on the internets? Or are you some kind of psychic that knows all? You sound like you have insider knowledge. Tell us who you really are?

On the offensive end yes. But not the defensive side. But I would take the offensive risk over losing defense. Just not sure the FO would.

And would cripple the Jazz defense. And the "don't worry, Gobert is there" explanation didn't work when during the beginning of the year the Jazz guards were doing just that and the defense was bad.

Also will have replacement level center minutes so the center position over 48 minutes will be weakened. It's lateral at best.

Lineup data suggest that we were better with Joe Johnson and Gobert on the floor together when Johnson was here than Gobert and Favors. Johnson wasn't any good on D but our defense was still fine when he was on the floor and our offense was much better. And Tobias is much better than Johnson was at that stage of his career.

I think he said he could live in park City.
Then for some reason you said that the jazz don't play in park City
Why does that matter?

What you probably should have said is that he can play in Philly and not live in Philly. And just left out the part about the jazz not playing in park City.
