What's new

Told you Rubio is not going to help us. He's a backup PG at best.

It was probably the worst game by Rubio today. He should be averaging 7-8 assists with his eyes closed just on a Rudy pick and rolls. I really hope their chemistry will start clicking soon.
To bad Exum isn't around to show him how to pass to Gobert correctly. No one has done it better than Exum in their limited time together.

Rubio is without a doubt a starting caliber PG. But he has a unique skill-set that, especially as the league has become more guard driven/perimeter oriented, needs to be specifically schemed around in order to maximize his performance/effectiveness.

Rubio, understandably, is struggling to adjust his game to the offense (which he is still learning), while being a PG who needs (more so than most) to be in a system that is adjusted to his. He needs shooters/space to operate, which our roster is currently unable to sufficiently provide.

He was a value pick-up at a time in which the roster was in flux. It may not be consistently apparent, largely in part due to DL essentially being forced to quickly patch together a competitive roster with pieces that don't necessarily fully fit/compliment eachother, but Rubio is still a young, talented PG who excels at passing & defense.

Although if we do commit to him as our long-term PG, the roster will need significant readjusting. But, to be honest, I don't see him as an ideal PG pairing for Gobert.

Either way, he is a much better PG than some people appear to be giving him credit for. I fully expect him to improve as he becomes more familiar/comfortable with the system/team.

I think both Ingles and Hayward were passing ball just fine to Rudy. Rubio and Rudy can work. They just need better spacing and more time together to figure it out. Playing with Favors does not help either.

The Jazz need to be a bigger threat from the perimeter is what it boils down to. The inconsistency as of late from Ingles and Hood doesn't help.

Rubio didn't seem locked in last night. I think he's going to have a few games like that. We will survive if we play crappy teams or teams that aren't on fire. DD gave it to us last night.

Also we need to find a true playmaking stretch four. Would help everything.

Ultimately I think Rubio is an interesting placeholder. I don't expect him to be here longer than his contract. Im not sure we would have acquired him had it not been for Hayward... think we might have just rolled with Exum.

Here's the solution to the Jazz PG Problem.

#GoFullJingles

I wish we had two or three Joes... he's so disrespectful... in the best way.

Lolololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololo

A lot of Minny fans are looking pretty dumb right now for making Ricky a scapegoat and believing he was the problem. A bunch of Jazz fans bought into that theory, but hopefully they've come to their senses. Considering his play on both ends of the floor, Rubio is completely underrated as a PG. Dude is a straight up G.

lol.

minnie fans been watching this crap for years.

I think that bump to rubio's head did something.

it may have made him into a dead eye shooter.

if rubio keeps this up i'll be astonished in a good way. I'd gladly eat my crow if he manages to keep this up. We still have a ways to go.

I never really understood the Rubio hate from the Jazz fans. I like him as a player and glad that he plays for the Jazz. He meshes well with DMitch and Ingles. Oh sure, he'll have some more bad games up ahead but he is learning and adapting to this Jazz team nicely.

A.) He clearly has improved his shot and shot selection as well. Whatever Snyder and Co., are doing. . . it’s working.

B.) His work with Raul Lopez is clearly helping him as well. He seems a lot more calm and under control lately. Making much better decisions.

C.) Mitchell’s gravity is helping non shooters like Rubio and Favors to find a little more space.

D.) Quin has been letting them play at a faster pace (more in line with where Ricky performs well) have all contributed.

E.) This is a great read. . . https://www.slcdunk.com/nba-podcast...azz-ricky-rubio-raul-lopez-nba-trade-deadline
