Tomic to the Jazz

TBH, I won't be devastated if the Jazz swing and miss in free agency. Tomic and Burks are two pretty decent "acquisitions." And Hood has come on strong. Having Rodney play big minutes as the 3rd wing might be a good thing. I never viewed signing a FA and using that cap space as what would win or lose the Kanter trade. Besides, if we still had Kanter, Tomic would never consider coming over. So in that respect, it may turn out fantastic that we didn't drag this out until the summer with a qualifying offer.

Does anyone know if we have to fit Tomic's salary under the cap, or could we spend up to the cap and then sign him to a contract that would put us over the cap because we already own his rights?
Pretty sure we would have to fit his salary under the cap just like any other draft pick, meaning signing him would reduce the possibility of a large free agent splash.

If I were a betting man, I'd say this is no more than Tomic trying to get Barcelona to give him a new deal. We'll bring over Pleiss. And DL and Snyder are too afraid to bring over Neto; he'd outplay both Trey and Dante. Then what would they do?

If you piss in the punch one more time...

Jazz fans can see Ante Tomic tomorrow morning at 11 on NBATV

Just listened to this interview by David Locke. Here's what he said on the possibility of Tomic coming over next season:
Q: I always thought of Ante Tomic as the unicorn. It's out there but... is this really gonna happen?
Locke: Umh... I think so. I would say maybe, possibly. It's complicated. There's a lot of things that can go wrong, but there are some people in the organization that really like him.

If he comes over his nickname has to be the unicorn or bigfoot... since we nickname everything here.

All these undated quotes are a bit frustrating. Please tell us when these quotes took place (not just the date of an article in which they might have been quoted), if possible. Thanks

Edit: Today on 1280 for the one stiches is reporting, correct?

And the always awkward as ****, David Locke:

Both seem to have received marching orders to stop talking about Tomic coming over. Very Jazz FO.

Tomic will be very good for Rudy to be around.

A couple of those plays are Tomic vs. Splitter. Tomic matched up very well with Splitter when they played in the same league.

I'm still skeptical about him coming over, but it would be awesome if he did! Great passer for a big guy, crappy defender though.

His shooting percentages are crazy, but he is only playing like 22 minutes per game. If he is so great why can't he crack 20 ppg and 30 mpg in Europe for heaven's sake.
