NAOS: Not trying to be your role model .. but I have posted pics of myself, my wife, a link to my company website .. unless you're undercover .. wtf cares?

I'll take the following position: I believe some information is more misleading than helpful.

As a follow-up: If there is no correlation between bench press repetitions and NBA success (I've yet to see anyone assert that there is) then why is it important in any way?

Further follow-up: If there is no correlation between bench press repetitions and NBA success, and you use it as way to distinguish between players, is it any better than flipping a coin or basing it on which one's moustache you like better?

I think it's possible to design strength tests that might be predictive in some way of athletic success (for the record, I think nearly all the combine tests are significantly less useful than the amount they are discussed would suggest) but I've yet to see any evidence that the bench press test is more signal than noise.

Yass,

This post is so 45 minutes ago.

I know this is paranoid but here is a true story:
I have an acquaintance who wasn't granted tenure because of his online activities/trolling. The department built a case around his personality and his 'wasted' time online. Yes... weird. But true.

I don't have tenure yet, so...

btw, tenure is a big mother ****ing deal.

True.

So I would say it's probably not cool to bash the pics of those posters that are either tenured .. or have a sutnack.

I would agree that is probably the least important (or that weird lane agility test they do when they shuffle their feet when a light flashes), it still is important.

Is there any direct correlation to NBA productivity and any of the athletic measurements? You could argue that strength is what keeps Evans from being a NBA role player, so you could say that there is a direct correlation to Jeremy Evans ability to play basketball and his bench press #'s. Obviously there are more measures (and better measures) of strength than bench press, but it still gives a fairly general level of strength.

Ya man, I heard the craziest thing too, the government and it's Antichrist leader Obama has been using tax dollars to build this laser that like zaps all of your private info and individual thinking skills and just turns you into a sheep or a cucumber or something but not to worry because my brother is building these high-tech metallic foil headsets that reflect the laser and kee p you safe and stuff I'll tell my brother to make you one as well

I'll make note of your opinion on appropriate forum conduct.
Meanwhile, do you mind if I archie Archie? thx

There's a regular poster of this board that starts work for me on July 8th. He'll learn about everything about me (well, most things) and I couldn't give a damn .. but to each his own ... and I do get it.

hey hack, I've mentioned my field, my area of research, and narrowed it down to 6 campuses I work for. That's not very narrow, but my pic is going too far since it is posted on the department webpage.

Down to six campuses? When did you do that?

And I did a specific web search and the first guy that showed up was this feller.

So I'm assuming that's NAOS. Now everyone else can do the same.

You're welcome.

I have nothing to gain by sharing my identity + I'll archie Archie when I want to. Get over it.

Well, my long layover is over. It's been realz fellas.... chao.

Well you are your own boss.

I can understand NAOS fears, but it seems unlikely that any of us would take the amount of time to identify him from a picture, matching it to one of his universities then post his name so it would come up in searches for his name.

You're not a public figure, are you?
