@saltcityhoops @johnhollinger The Jazz will almost certainly try to bring Josh Howard back next season. O'Connor and Corbin rave about him.

Josh Howard is a scape goat right now in Jazzland, but Utah will almost certainly try to re-sign him. O'Connor and Corbin rave about Josh.

O'Connor recently told media Jazz are patient in an impatient world. "People forget how much Josh and Raja meant to us until they got hurt."
What the **** did Bell and Howard mean to the team? Seriously. The team played better after they were hurt for a reason.

I don't wanna go to the extent of saying I'll stop being a Jazzfan, but f Howard is re-signed I will seriously watch a maximum of 25% of next season's Jazz games. Holy ****ing ****. Re-sign Josh ****ing Howard. You have got to be ****ing kidding me. What in God's ****ing name has Josh ****ing Howard contributed over the past 5 months!?!?! ****ing 39% FG and 24% 3-point percentage?!?!? Are those worthy contributions from our starting SF?!?!?

I might actually kill someone/something if this plays out.
Don't forget no passing and little to no defense.

I don't think KOC's lip service to the vets can be taken at face value. He has something to gain by establishing his team as a go-to destination for certain types of players. Despite what everybody has been saying lately, Howard was indeed a GOOD IDEA. Next time an analogous situation pops up, maybe it'll turn out better.

yes, I'm citing myself.

We have a young and promising roster. KOC wants to be the place where one- to two-year rentals of complementary vets happens. Why would he say anything besides what he said?

playoff experience for you right there

1. Jefferson (do I need to explain myself?)
2. Watson (because it can mean we'd re-sign Tinsley and we don't need his attitude here)
3. Bell (he's pointless here and can do nothing but harm going forward imo)
4. Harris (like Big Al, an explanation's not needed here; I didn't put him higher because we do need a pg to start next year and I'd rather it be him than Tinsley or worse, someone else we sign to a four year deal who quite obviously isn't our long-term answer--if we draft Marshall, we can always trade Harris at the deadline once the kid has 50 games under his belt)
5. Carroll (meh)

I didn't count Howard and Miles because they're two games away from being done here anyway.

Interesting or infuriating?

1. Bell
2. Howard
3. CJ (honestly, not really in that order more like 1A 1B 1C)
4. Ahern (if he counts, if not Watson)
5. Harris (I hate to say this one, but he's just wildly inconsistent)

I'll put Corbin there if he starts that awful lineup in game 3 and barring foul trouble Favors doesn't see at minimum 30 minutes.

be prepared to add him. I've seen nothing to indicate Corbin is capable of making adjustments on his own. So far it has been the health of the team that makes all the coaching decisions for him.

Please tell me that's a joke. Howard went 22-21 with the team, and without him the Jazz were 14-9. Bell you can make a somewhat better argument for, being 19-15 with the team and 17-15 without, though in the Jazz's two 5 game and one 6 game winning streak Howard made much more of an impact (though neither were part of the last 5 game winning streak other than really the last meaningless Portland game, and both weren't a part of 3 games of the 6 game streak).

He shouldn't say anything that he has no intention of following up on. The proof is in action, if this is all lip service, then KOC isn't cultivating Utah as a free agency destination. If he's not being genuine in how he feels about these turds on our team, I totally fail to see what the end-game is.

We'll have to disagree on the importance of being able to score consistently in the post. As for the Al/Sap debate, I tried to explain the decision is not simply about retaining the "best" player. It's about what makes the most practical sense. Trading Sap is easier and likely to bring back better value because of his contract. Letting Al expire subtracts 15 million from the Cap Figure.

As to the actual player debate, in my opinion we'd be better with Favors lined up next to Al than Sap. I could change my mind on that if I believed Favors was ready to reliably create shots for himself. But I don't think he is, thus I'd rather have him playing next to a guy who can as he continues to develop. By the end of next season I would expect Favors to be ready.
You show that at least in this instance, you are a better man than me.

what do we know? We know second-hand that KOC speaks highly of Howard. I'm going to assume Jody isn't quoting KOC when he speaks that they "certainly will try to sign him." We also know that KOC has talked about how much Howard and Bell have meant to the team. I think we can chalk that up to professional courtesy. He probably wouldn't say these things about an unproven player; it doesn't hurt that he show them respect publicly.

The Howard hate has gone way too far. Do I want to re-sign him? No. Has Corbin played him in the right spots? No. Was it a good idea to sign him? Yes. Will it be a good idea to sign players like him in the future? Yes. Has this board had a generally positive view of him at some point this season? Yes.

I never liked him that well. Always seems to play outside of the offense. Too much one-on-one, ruins most fast breaks he's on, and he is inefficient. Only thing he brings is defensive rebounding.

I think we have a contender with the team just the way it is. All we need is a little playoff experience, and we'll be fine.
