Top 5 Jazz Players of All Time

Pick 5

As I stated in the OP certain compromises had to be made to pare it down to 10 players. Maybe I should do a series of players from different eras for voting and combine them to get to the final 10 or something but I think this is pretty close. Win shares is not a bad point of comparison really.

Can't find ostertag on the list....
I'm searching for Handlogten. I had to settle for Stockton, Malone, Dantley (who I never enjoyed watching but he sure was effective pushing people around with that enormous butt) and Hornacek. I wish I could have chosen Kirilenko because he was initially on an amazing trajectory, but man, did he ever become a different player once he got paid. I left Pistol off for the same reasons Cy did. He was never any good as a member of the Utah Jazz. In fact, he was pathetic. The other player I gave serious consideration to was Okur.

It seems like a large portion of the current team is making a play for inclusion on this list. If they continue on their current trajectories it's going to get really, really crowded in the top five of the Jazz.

Edit: Whoops I meant to mention DWill. He also made my list.

Am I living in some type of bizarro world where Maravich never existed?!
I think the bizarro thing is that you probably weren't alive to see him on the Utah Jazz so you have no concept of how bad he was. Definitely the worst player on the team even though he had a highlight filled offensive career on the New Orleans Jazz. He was fun to watch when he played well, but it would never have been fun to cheer for his team because they never won.

I think the only Top 5 toss up is D-Will or Horny. I gave it to Horny because of him being the last piece to finally bringing the Jazz to the NBA Finals twice, but could easily say D-Will since he was the star of the team that went to the Western Conference Finals and his run in Utah ended too early.

Karl, John, Dantley and Maravich.

Hornacek or D-Will. Horny, sure. The way D-Will left the Jazz affects the choice.

Wait.. Where is Rafael Baby Araujo?

Something must be wrong with my browser or something, I couldn't find Mark Eaton or Rudy Gobert on the list.

I'm with fish. I was torn between DWill and AK47, but I decided AK was great for too short a period. Both are better players than Hornacek.

I guarantee that the people voting for Maravich never saw him play for the Utah Jazz, even on film. I am not exaggerating. There were no highlights. He was injured and angry about being in Utah the entire time, then halfway through his only season here he got traded. He went to another team and was useless there as well. In his prime he was a fun player to watch, but that never happened on the Utah Jazz.

I guess we have a different interpretation of the question. If Jordan signed with Jazz but then got injured in the first quarter of his only game with the team, I would consider him the best player to ever play for the team.
