Trade deadline discussion

I have no idea how it'd work lineup-wise but I for sure would swap Bojan for him if Celtics or Magic wanna cut us in.

Probably just start him in Bojan's spot. He can guard anyone from Jamal Murray to Lebron (at least for a while). Would love to see what that maniac can do running around with Rudy behind him.
This is what I’ve been saying. All of it.

Orlando is so dumb... why would you trade Aaron Gordon and Fournier but not Vucevic? I would start with the opposite approach. Trade Nik then trade the other guys.

I'd pick up Lauri Markkanen if the Bulls' asking price isn't too high. He's making around $6MM right now, and the Jazz could match in RFA if they want him longer term. He's apparently on the market. He's only 23 and has been set back by some injuries.

Cuz vuce is on a super team friendly contract that teams will want to hold onto. Given the fact that Vuce is on a bargain deal means it's really tough for Magic to get anything worthy in return. So trading Vuce means either magic getting robbed or matching salaries that work in theory but make zero sense for any of the parties involved. Just check out the caliber of players in Vuce's salary range and you will see what I mean.

Same goes for Sabonis. Given how much he is making, Indiana will absolutely want to hold onto his contract no matter what happens.

That's fine but that type of asset only depreciates and could become worthless with one injury. If you aren't going anywhere with the asset then offload it for something that works. Fournier and AG are both team friendly deals too.

Say they could nab 4 firsts by moving all those guys and give themselves some cap room to do the OKC next year... they could really jump start things. Give Bamba a **** ton of minutes to figure things out... tank the eff outta this B for the next couple years. Vuc gonna be like 33 before they are ready to do anything.

Vucevic is 100% a sell high now. This is likely the best he will ever be... and its getting you nowhere. Gonna tread water for another year and say his shooting percentage dips or he gets hurt... then what.

Fournier and Gordon are on team friendly deals, but I won't call them much of a "bargain".

And as I said, teams won't give Magic 4 first rounders for Vuce because they already traded them all. So a deal won't happen unless magic wanna get robbed.

As for teams do have enough first round picks on the table, it simply doesn't make any sense. Vuce, despite being an all star, is not Rudy type player that guarantee you a playoff berth by his presence alone. So teams that are rebuilding would rather hold onto their picks and Vuce himself wouldn't want to leave one losing team for another.

I gotta say, Markkanen continues to really intrigue me. Especially since I am a big believer in the power of environment, and Chicago has been a dumpster fire ever since they got rid of Thibs.

If all he is is a 7-foot tall Bogey that's a decade younger, uhh, yeah. I'll take it. Jazz need a third star (or whatever) that isn't on the precipice of falling off a cliff because of age.

Not gonna bother putting a package together since the Jazz have ******* for matchable assets.

Boston would likely do two firsts for Vuc... then you sell off Gordon to another suitor for a pick or two. Magic basically were said to be shutting people down that are asking about him. If I were them and I could get one good young player, one decent first, and expiring salary or just okayish salary... I'd jump on board and pivot so hard.

So let's say Boston says two firsts and thompson for Vuc... sign me up... then if Denver wants Gordon for 2 firsts and Harris (not great salary but whatevs)... done deal. And there you have 4 firsts... plus your first this year could improve by ensuring you stay bottom 4. Next year you have Isaac and Fultz coming back plus whoever you draft... you suck for another year or two but have some hope of being more than just the 8 seed.

The tear down should be the easiest part of the rebuild... yet dumb teams screw it up.

Apparently the Pacers are listening to offers on Brogdon.

I love Brogdon a whole lot. We don't know what's gonna happen with Mike, Brogdon could conceivably play the 3, and we could probably use someone to shore up the Jingles role as he ages.

Again, Jazz probably don't have the assets, there'd probably have to be a third team involved, but I'd try if I were them.

I have never understood what the Magic were building towards. As long as they continue to have no vision and nothing to build around, they will continue to flail, whether they rebuild or not.

So here's the Markkanen take if you're looking at the big picture:

@Handlogten's Heros theorem says that this summer you either have to dump Favors or Bojan if you're bringing Conley back. The big issue on Markkanen is that you've gotta pay him this summer. Who knows what that looks like. The argument has been that he's underwhelming or maybe he's just Bojan. Who knows. He's not a rebounder, but compared to Bojan his TRB% is nearly twice of his, and has been better in previous years. He's obviously still young. But, if you viewed this from the lens of it also being a preemptive move on Bojan for this summer (under the belief in HH's theorem), then you're essentially making that move now, getting to see Markkanen up close, then worst-case-scenario this summer you let him walk (as opposed to sending out Bojan into someone's cap space). Or you determine you want to pay him, which means you think he's going to be a piece.

While I think his defense is passable but not great, Markannen I think could improve as a defender under Quin while being able to shoot the three.

Jazz would probably have to give Toronto a protected pick and maybe send out a young player, but the Jazz could conceivably convert Bogey into Powell and Markkanen, while giving themselves some financial flexibility in the offseason. Powell becomes a starter at the 3 and Markkanen becomes a backup at the 4.

I like Bojan and believe his troubles stem more from adjusting to his wrist surgery but if this trade was on the table I would take it and run.
