Trade deadline discussion

Conley
Mitchell
Brogdon
O'Neal
Gobert

And bring Bojan/Ingles/Niang/Clarkson...off the bench.
In order to get something, you have to send something. Bojan would most-likely be the guy to go since there has to be matching salary, at minimum.

I would also consider sending Clarkson. *ducks*

We could send Bojan, but they let Bojan go so they could sign Brogdon.

I’d like to think we pick up a rotation player from trade or buyout but I’m not seeing it. Not that we won’t make a move (most likely a FA signing, less likely a trade), but unless that person is a real known-quantity, I don’t see a pathway for playing time. If we landed, for example, James Ennis like act suggests, that’s a guy who could get burn with injury, but unless that happens, there’s no way Quin let’s them see the floor. If we’re healthy, this is the rotation you’re going to see in the playoffs, except Rudy and Donovan’s minutes will tick up. I thought Ilyasova may see some burn but I’m getting more and more skeptical about that. Basically, we’ll probably ride the same rotation with limited experimentation and if/when we reach a playoff matchup that needs another look, we won’t have any data or experience in running some of these guys (or new additions or whatever) and the common retort would be “duh, we didn’t try this in the regular season, why try it now?” kind of like how @Handlogten's Heros mentioned regarding Locke’s take on some things from last playoffs.

But a guy like OPJ hits the sweet spot. He’s the very top end of what could be somewhat conceivable, but would actually get minutes. Help us, Otto Porter, Jr., you’re our only hope.

it was really a Conley or Brogdon type of situation in 2019. The Brogdon ship has sailed the moment we acquired Conley
And I would take Brogdon hands down in a straight swap. He's much younger, bigger and stronger, so won't get pushed around in the paint like Conley.

You got to think about facing the Clippers or Nets in the playoffs. You are going to want more guys who have Ennis size and experience. Niang might not be playable against a team like the Clippers.

I don’t disagree with that. What I’m saying is that even though that’s the case, do you see Quin putting in an Ennis over a Niang, especially having not tried it out much during the season outside of garbage time / injury? I think to crack Quin’s rotation you’ve got to have a legit resume. He’s Thibbsing guys until the game is almost done and we’re up big on the first night of a back-to-back.

Ennis has over 7500 NBA regular season minutes. He's started 126 NBA games. He's played in 22 playoff games. He's got a solid resume, so I could definitely see him taking over Niang's minutes basically right away.

We are having an incredible season. In my opinion, here is how our roster sits:

Should not be available in any deal:
Rudy
Don
Joe
Royce
Clarkson

If he is leaving this summer, wants too much or we are offered a deal we can't refuse:
Conley

Available for the right deal:
Favors
Bogey
Niang
Udoka

I think Ersan could come in and give what Bogey is giving many nights. Bogey is better for sure, but Ersan can provide cover. That goes for Favors too to a certain degree.

Bogey still has value. Teams like Charlotte, NY, and Atlanta are desperate for relevance. I could see them wanting a guy like Bogey for the right price.

Stfu bout Conley. Who cares if he walks? Jazz competing for a ring now. You don't trade the league leader in +/- mid season

I don't want to trade the guy. I'm leaving it up to the Front Office to make that call. I didn't put him with "available" guys like Bogey and Favors for a reason. I listed the reasons the FO might have to consider trading him while his value is so high.

Stop being so defensive over Conley dude. And definitely stop coming up with a stat to rationalize value. If we lost Rudy, Conley's +/- would be irrelevant. We wouldn't be a home court playoff team. Same could be said for Don. Probably the same could be said for Clarkson and maybe even Joe too. Conley is having a nice season, but keep things in perspective. If the FO thinks Conley is worth trading to get a Jerami Grant, Siakim, even Marcus Smart, you have to consider it.

I honestly don't think we should make any substantial trade, but I could understand if we do.

A team trading for Siakam has to be willing to pay $35M/year for a 2nd or 3rd banana-type player. That's a big contract, and there aren't a lot of teams who would do it. A handful maybe.

When the Thunder finally traded Chris Paul, who was a proven All Star and team floor-raiser, they got Kelly Oubre, Ricky Rubio, Ty Jerome, Jalen Lecque and a 2022 first-round pick. I'm sure the Raptors would like the moon for Siakam, but it might not be out there for them. They're likely to hold onto him for a while, assuming he doesn't sulk and throw a fit like James Harden did when the Rockets were tearing down.
Do you know what the Raptors have been through this year? Uriji isn’t jumping to conclusions based on recent evidence.

If we could sneak into the Philly Toronto deal I’d give Bojan up for Danny Green... toss Ujiri a second rounder for his trouble. That’s the type of defender I think could make a difference for us and we. Oils limit his minutes now and have him fresh as a ****ing daisy for the playoffs.

I'd hate to lose Favors from a locker room perspective, but finding a way to get Marcus Smart in that Boston/Orlando Aaron Gordon deal would be wise. Maybe...

Boston gets Gordon
Utah gets Smart
Orlando gets Favors, Udoka, draft assets from Boston and draft assets from Utah

We would then go out and get the best big man available using an exception (we have a $5 million and a $3.5 million exception).

Apparently the Pacers are listening to offers on Brogdon.

I love Brogdon a whole lot. We don't know what's gonna happen with Mike, Brogdon could conceivably play the 3, and we could probably use someone to shore up the Jingles role as he ages.

Again, Jazz probably don't have the assets, there'd probably have to be a third team involved, but I'd try if I were them.
I too like brogdon a lot..... But not as a 3. We are already too small, I don't want to go smaller.
