What is the defense ranked this year (without exum) when favors and Gobert are healthy?
I have no idea but I bet it's top 5 or so (wouldn't be surprised if it was even #1 or #2), which I consider to be elite.

I watch our offense struggle in almost every game. Seems like we have sub 20 point quarters every single game. I maintain that our defense will be good as long as we have favors and Gobert. Our offense needs to get allot better though.

Btw I'm not against getting a good defensive pg and not saying that pg defense doesn't matter at all... I just think a pg who is a threat offensively helps our team more than a pg who plays good defense.


I also really wish Snyder would try more zone defense, specifically a 3-2 zone.
Put three guys out by the three point line defensively and don't give up threes and force everyone into the paint where favors and Gobert await

Zone defenses almost never work in the NBA besides few possession stretches.

It's not 3 prolific scorers, it is 2. Kyrie is going to be relegated to the facilitator role of point guard. He's done that before. NBA he averages 20 points per game, but when playing on the US Olympic team he becomes a facilitator and his points per game drops to 12. From 20 to 12 when surrounded by other scorers. Same thing would happen if Melo goes to Cleveland. Melo's numbers won't drop, Kyrie's will. In fact, Melo's numbers will rise. First time in his NBA career he will be playing with an elite point guard.

Amazingly weak analogy and argument. USA team minutes are spread among superstars. And even so, Kyrie has the fourth most shots on the team and 3.6 apg Look at Magic Johnson's stats and you'll see what you are talking about (8ppg, 5.5 apg). You are really grasping, dude.

All teams need depth. Do you know Burks is coming back on the 18th? If not, we get a shooter who is 41% on his 3's. That's better than Johnson getting minutes at the 2,

Brooks is an immediate upgrade over Neto -or Green or Ingles when Burke or Neto are out.

Hindering Neto's development? Yep, it sure hurt John Stockton to come off the bench for most of three years. Besides, Neto is a backup. He's 3rd string on most contenders and I hope to hell that's the case by next season.

I'd rather have Teague or Hill. But if DL can't do that, there are some easy moves that would cost very little to upgrade a bit and add depth in case of injuries. Also show the fans AND, more importantly, the Jazz players that he wants to win.

Both Neto and Burke have been fine shooting the ball. Does Neto even play with both those players coming in? Neto will be a great backup pg for years to come setting up the second unit with great passing and search dribbles, he'll I can see him becoming a nice start able pg if Exum busts.

Hayward is neither more reliable or more important. Favors is the best player on this team. I'd be more inclined to trade Gobert, Exum, Hayward and anybody else on this team before Favors. And you still didn't answer the real question how does a SG force the PF/C out of the core?

Gobert and Exum aren't going anywhere.

You can only pay so many players, that's how a SG forces a PF/C out.

Netos percentage isn't bad but he's just not a guy you need to stay close to because his shot takes a long time to load up. He's not a great driver so he doesn't create either.

Hood and Hayward are good enough creators but they are not consistent enough yet. When they don't have it going it is ugly. When we play a good team in the playoffs they will expose how much Netos lack of offense can hurt us.

I'm fine with standing pat unless Teague or hill are available for a good value price. If someone steals him for a pick or something smaller I'll be pissed we weren't in on the deal.

I think this team, with the growth this year, and with Exum would be the #1 defense and we;d all know it cause everybody would be talking about it. That kind of elite defense.

I know we suffer on the offense, but I'm a strong supporter of it's better to be the best at one thing and mediocre at the other thing than to be above average at both. If we can show other teams a defense unlike anything else they face in the league we can take them out of rhythm and make them play our game.

They would both probably go somewhere before Favors though. Unless of the Jazz got a tremendous offer for Favors, which I doubt they'd get from any other player on this roster.

I am so excited about this teams defense when Exum comes back. They are going to be easily the best defense in the league.

The encouraging thing about that is that our offense has been so much improved this year that I have hope for a top 10 offense as well. I think if Exum can contribute on offense, Hayward, Hood and Favors will look like all stars. No need for Exum to score big, but he might get there one day anyway.

Teague though is who you should be going after no doubt. I know it be a longshot but why not call up OKC and see if you could swing Russ somehow. Like i said it be a longshot but i would try. Lot of talk, but in the end Howard and Horford are unrestricted. Whiteside is too. That shouldn't bring a lot in return, but those teams want a fortune. I think some deals will get done, but major players won't get dealt.

OKC has always been on the cusp of getting it done and a lot of talk goes on how KD and Russ in crunch tiem can not get it done. A lot of it is Russ takes away from KD. You have to try and he is a west coast kid so he would be closer to home. You have to gauge the interest of Russ and OKC to least try. This is a business it is not college hoops where you recruit a player and he stays with the team the whole time. Got to make moves and make the RIGHHT MOVE.. Hey how about when I am in Utah in couple weeks you come meet me on the court cuz I am tired of you always taking negative shtings eeven when I say positive. come man up sio I can toss you around o nthe court. It was done to keep the franchise solvent - simply couldn't afford to have him. How the NBA has changed since then!
