Trade Partners for TB

I dont think Cotton will outplay Burke, I guess we will see when the season starts. I also dont think Cotton will ever be a good shooter. Him and Burks coming off the bench together seems like a bad fit. Time will tell I guess.

Also it hurts nothing to let these two compete for the backup spot during the regular season for awhile. Especially compared to your suggestion of dumping Burke. If Cotton outplays him consistently he will earn more minutes and then you can still dump Burke. Again 0 reason to get rid of a young player who has a lot invested in him for nothing.
I don't think dumping him for nothing is what will or should happen. I wouldn't care if it did though. And Cotton is already outplaying anything Burke did in summer league. While also showing NBA skills Burke doesn't and will most likely never have. Move Burke to 3rd string PG and you might as well cut him.

I was able to confirm by two agents that the Jazz did have Trey Burke in draft and post draft trade conversation for wing players @1320KFAN

Agents I spoke to feel strongly Burke has value but Dennis Lindsey was unwavering in his asking price, and would not include future 1st rd

I get the strong impression from people I've spoken to that Dennis Lindsey is widely respected around the league and is a tough negotiator

Of the agents I spoke to the #Jazz describe Burke as no longer being a fit but not a problem for the club

My main answer to this is because we have a player that is showing to have far more potential and has more NBA quality skills, in Cotton. If we didn't have Cotton I'd be all for giving Burke another year. I believe that year is better spent developing the better player with a higher ceiling.

The idea that Cotton has more "NBA skill" than Burke is funny to me. Burke has had a number of big games in NBA games that matter. On top of being a lottery pick compared to an undrafted guy. Not to say Cotton can't be the better player however there's no logical reason to support this notion.

Faster, More athletic, Better at attacking the basket, better defender, and far better passer. All helpful skills to have as an NBA PG. Cotton has had far fewer opportunities than Burke but has also had some big games in the NBA. Burke's big games are far too few and far between. He's just like CJ Miles, shows flashes but overall a player that does not perform up to the standard he needs to. I don't know if Cotton will be better than Burke or not. I don't think he could be much worse. And the potential is there to be far better. I don't see any potential in Burke.

The stats that I posted earlier was from Steve Nash's 3rd year in the league. Two teams gave up on Nash. Luckily for Phoenix they got him back. It's insane to think a player that spent two years in college in two more as a pro is finished developing. I can understand the pessimism as it relates to Burke. But a lot of the comments just come off as illogical hate.
Cool you found an exception to a rule. Now should we look up and post stats from the 10,000 guys that played like **** their first 2-3 years and never did anything after? One guy does nothing to support your argument.

Conclusion: we gave up too early on Kevin Murphy
and Jimmer Fredette still has a chance to become an all-star.

This is as good of place as any. Trey Burke has been invited to USA Basketball mini camp.

Sources told ESPN.com that USAB has extended invitations to Chicago's Jimmy Butler, Memphis ' Mike Conley, Golden State's Draymond Green and Harrison Barnes, Orlando's Tobias Harris and Victor Oladipo and Utah's Trey Burke to its Aug. 11-13 camp on the campus of UNLV.

It was 2 a.m. and the deadline for picking the team was fast approaching. After downing a few drinks, Coach K and Jerry Colangelo chose those who looked the best to them. Boy will they have a surprise once they sober up!

Whos who in your picture of Conley, Jimmy Butler, Draymond, Barnes,Tobias, Oladipo and Burke? Are they all equally regrettable as one or did they get most of the picks right and just mess up 1 or 2?

Conley, Butler and Green obviously belong. Harris, Oladipo and Barnes a level below. Burke was really scraping the bottom of the barrel. Then again, the Globetrotters needed the Generals to make them look better. I think Burke was chosen for comedic relief.

Team USA has made some head scratching choices. I think favors must get called in by agents. I guess part of that is stars not wanting to play in off years. And after the horrific George injury, I'm sure some won't want to. I just remember some stiff being invited to camp when Hayward and Favors participated. Can't even remember his name now. And, of course, the Plumlee/Coach K connection.

I will help ya.
Trey is the fattest ugliest one of the group

i find it interesting that the jazz were shopping trey for a wing player and that they also wanted to trade up for winslow in the draft. seems to me that our wing rotations are pretty firm with burks back, hood showing plenty and set for a bigger role, gordon still (hopefully) on the rise and both elijah and ingles under contract. where would we find minutes for another young wing?

You clearly didn't get the point. My point is player(more specifically PG's) develop at different paces. Usually you see a significant bump after year 3, but even then sometimes it takes a little longer. The source said Burke has value throughout the league, but DL was being stern about his asking price.

If that was your point then you missed. I don't see the skill or ability in Burke that says he has to ability to make much improvement. I see a slow, and not very athletic, short guy that does nothing on the court well enough to cover for any of that. I see no discernable skills related to his position on the team. Bad shooter, Unwilling Passer and poor defender, all those things combined = not worth keeping. I have no fear that if the Jazz move on that Trey will ever make them sorry they did.

Hi all,

follow me on a fun little trip here. The posts below are culled from various threads. The first one is from the first page of this thread......

This. Please reserve these thread killing responses for posters like DutchRudder, TPP, and he who shall not be named.

Can you at least respect that others feel differently?

This is why Jazzfanz needs a permanent counter troll.

Having attempted that, it takes some commitment. I'm not sure I have the energy for that.
.

This is one conflicted, inconsistent mother****er. He admits to "counter trolling" but also wants there to be respect for divergent opinions? Ok.

/cute stuff
