Trade Rumors Involving the Jazz

Says the Jazz have made all veterans available and that Clarkson, Beverley and Beasly are drawing the most interest. Also says the Jazz are expected to continue pursuit of Sexton.

Less intrigued by Sexton if it costs assets now to get him, plus a contract. Although, depending on the contract details I could come around again. I don’t want to trade ANY unprotected picks for anyone yet. Jazz should be looking to accumulate assets to a degree that’s never been seen AND they need to bottom out so their own picks have a lot more value in the short term.

Ayton, Sexton and Collins all feel like bandaids if the team is in fact going scorched earth.

I’d MUCH rather acquire and play young, inexperienced guys (to see if they’re a long-term piece) and/or young reclamation projects (to see if they can find a hidden gem that everyone else missed on.)

The draft class when DM was taken is interesting. Dennis Smith Jr. and Frankie Smokes were taken 7-8. Luke Kennard was selected with the pick just before Donovan and Justin Jackson and Justin Patton were taken just after. Drafting is not an exact science.

I think the most the Jazz would send out besides matching salary is that Royce 1st but I also doubt that. I think 75% of the appeal is that it is a buy-low opportunity.

I think everyone would agree with the basics of your point, especially Ainge.

I really don’t want to send that Royce 1st out either. While it’s very likely a high 20’s pick, the fact that two of the 3 teams are the Nets and Rockets means that you only have to have Philly go through a rash of injuries to Embiid or Harden and that pick could potentially sneak into the lottery or late teens.

i am a fan of DM and Rudy. Personally, I didn't want either to go. I would have wanted the organization to get some athletic wings to go with these two. Unfortunately, that should have happened a few years ago. I am now for a total rebuild but I will miss both of them.

Hopefully it is indeed a full rebuild. It’ll be the first time in maybe forever the Jazz actually did something that wasn’t two years too late- or too little to late.
