What's new

Trey Burke is still garbage.

He plays more of his minutes with Hayward than anyone else.

Ok.

My point was more this: if you look at the ratio of talent to being surrounded by talent to minutes played, then it's clear that we could be getting more from Burks if we weren't too busy bakking the cakk. He plays more minutes with fringe players than any other "core" player.

When I see Burks out there with Millsap, Ingles, Trey, and Withey I can only shake my head at the prematurely and prohibitively clogged lanes.

Ingles and Trey are shooting the best 3pt percentage on the team if I'm not mistaken.

He's almost always playing with either Burke, who's shooting 40% from 3 (43% in catch and shoot) or Hayward who's the Jazz best wing by far. Even Ingles has a 52% catch and shoot percentage from three.

Just looking at the lineups, the team production isn't lessened in the Booker-Burke-Burks-Millsap-Whithey lineup (16 minutes), suggesting the personal stats aren't going to be that variable. I'm fairly certain that Burks' percentage and rating stats are better with the bench players (save Booker offensively) than with the starters. Though even the parenthetical doesn't seem to be true. Booker is in 11 of the most played 13 5 man lineups Burks has played in. Offensive rating in those lineups vary from 124 to 78, so Booker isn't the problem for Burks. Lyles is the big one and somewhat surprisingly Ingles despite his good shooting. Not sure how to run production with lineups not including those two.

Yeah I like Burks' current role. Those guys are good set shooters and Burks can get them open shots (occasionally). Historically Burks hasn't been that great starting, he isn't a willing set shooter. He needs the ball.

NAOS getting killed. Enjoying this thoroughly.

He's right, though.

Burks does play more of a percentage of his minutes with bench players than Hayward does. I just don't think that affects Burks' stats all that much and that Burks' numbers shouldn't be shooed away because of who he plays with. Burks has been a disappointment in a lot of games this year, regardless of who he plays with.

It's hard to find statistical evidence for what I'm claiming, and Ingles and Burke's 3-pt shooting percentage seems like evidence against it. But I'm pretty sure that every opposing coach has already game planned to run their opponents off the three point line (which is the only place that Joe is hurting anyone... and not very often, at that) and you'll also live with whatever Trey does after you've run him off. The point is that when Alec is out there with the second unit, he's the focal point of the defense's attention. Add to this the underwhelming level of talent and consistency across the bench, which surrounds Alec during these minutes.

Alec started tonight (something I've been calling for). We got more out of him, didn't we?

*sad trombone*

Yup just killing teams shooting 36% off 22 FGAs.

Burke working effectively as a catch-and-shoot floor-spacing PG for Burks to operate, draining 41% of his 3s while launching 4 of them every game, and NAOS is here giving us anecdotal justification for Burks "working harder for his stats than other players".

Off of terrible TS% 42.6%. I didn't see the game, so can't say how he "looked." eFG% was under 41%. -16 net.

Whether or not coaches are planning for Burks, he's, in my opinion, underperforming whether he's out there with the triple wing, Favors and Gobert, or Burke, Ingles, Booker and Whithey. And I think the stats point that out since it doesn't seem his numbers are any different with those two lineups.

I definitely disagree with the first part. Utah just isn't a team that is very conductive to getting assist, which seems to be what you are mostly basing "virtually zero playmaking skillls" comment on. As far as below average defender, that is true of a lot of PG's in the league. I don' think he is that bad and can approach average on most nights where his size isn't a huge issue vs bigger PG's.

This again, so much lol

I'll bet you're pretty young. You're not having a conversation with your wife or best friend. You're putting this out there for the world. You have no idea where it's going to go. You have no control of whether this thread is read by Trey Burke or anyone else. Would you say the same things on this forum if you weren't hiding behind anonymity? Would you say them to Trey's face?

Im sure I would say, good luck in the D league or Europe
