What's new

Trey Lyles being held out of practice/Summer League for now

From Peeks:

Indiana
I didn't get all pieces/deets.

I reached out to someone (a coach) and said, "Lyles" to my backyard.

The response, soon after, was, "not so fast, talks about shipping him to Indiana started before the pick even happened." I prodded and all I got was this;

- Lyles, Burke, and multiple unprotected firsts (not sure how many) leave Utah
- Jazz receive PG
- Pacers receive Lyles, Burke, and Melo, and 1 unprotected 1st
- Knicks receive multiple unprotected picks (Jazz) and Hibbert

(I am guessing we were offering two of our own + GSW)

My source was solid and I think the deal had at least a little to do with Utah's selection of Lyles, but I don't know that..

Took NAOS several hours to come up with that 2/10 troll-attempt smh.

1)So the Jazz were going to bring in 17 million in Salary and send out 3 million?

2)Wouldn't the Jazz need to sign Lyles to have more salary to send out?

3)This trade would never work as proposed. So if there was a deal for PG these weren't the details.

i don't want offend my favorite (besides one love) and i hope i can't, but i think this can't make sense and was not true. wht is this other peeks? i don't get who this references, but that one is not possible and i see it on nba 2k.

I know this is RUSE!!! What is wrong here with this lies and make stories and I can be happy and mad and sad all one day!!!!

Nothing can officially happen until the 9th anyway, so there's still time for Indiana to pull out of the Lakers deal

I'm no cap expert, so I could be wrong, nor do I have an opinion one way or the other on whether this rumor has anything behind it (hard to grasp from Knicks' POV), but:

I'm sure Booker would have been included. With Booker (and maybe Chris Johnson) in the trade, I think the numbers work out pretty close to fitting in the Jazz's cap space. If the Jazz are under the cap, it doesn't matter how much or little they send out, does it?

If you add Carmelo to our team, we are competing for a title. Melo has only missed the playoffs twice, took a terrible Denver team to the playoffs his first year, and won a national title by carrying his team. Anthony is a very good player and we'd be crazy to not trade for him if he was available.

I don't get why Jazz fans don't like very, very good players. It's unreal. Don't you guys want to win? You need stars to win, most stars are bitches, and stars don't play defense. That's why there are role players. To do the Charlie work.

It matters. They can bring back more than they send, but the trade can't result in Utah going over the cap. This is the reason it's an advantage to maintain some cap space leading up to the trade deadline, because it gives more flexibility to make trades work.

I love Hoods game, but his health worries me.
He seems to be one of those guys that is perpetually injured. One of the big reasons I thought Booker should have been the pick.

Burks coming off a season long injury, and Rodney who is down again (even if its slight im seeing a pattern forming) do not make me confident they are enough.

I hope this doesnt come back to bite us in the ***.

Hood's health doesn't worry me at all. Plenty of players deal with injuries without being career ending or even career altering. Imo this was a fluke. plantar fasciitis is painful, but also fairly common and very treatable. I have had a bout with it myself and my wife is dealing with it in both feet right now, but after treatment I have had no issues. I really think this is nothing to worry about with Hood at this point.

Rodney's latest was for a sore left shoulder, right? He is a lefty. He has probably been shooting a ton of shots, overtrained a bit. Not a problem at all. Or maybe the best problem to have. Is he going to be a 50% 3pt threat this year?

Just to make sure I get what you're saying, would I have been correct if I had phrased it to more precisely reflect what I was trying to say?:

"If the Jazz remain under the cap as a result of a trade, it doesn't matter how much or little they send out."

In other words, in the rumored trade under discussion, it wouldn't matter if they only sent out $7 million while taking back $17 million (if they were indeed able to remain under the cap).

Favors had PF-- he's fine now.

He's not going to be a 50% 3P threat this year, he's too versatile on offense/actually facilitates and dribbles. Shooting ~40% off of 2.5 makes per game would be more than enough.
