Trey Lyles being held out of practice/Summer League for now

Remind me again, why is it Indiana would get rid of PG? Also remind me, why are we assuming that if they did we'd obtain him without giving up Hayward, Favors or Gobert?

You can sign some players. They won't be as good as Hood, but it's worth it to have George, don't be a clown. We need someone who can guard KD/Harden.

First and foremost, I can only think of two reasons why Indiana would part with George, who was widely considered a top-ten NBA player (and probably the second best two-way wing in the NBA) before he injured himself:

1) health concerns re: injury
2) Indiana is thinking that he won't stay with the Pacers long term, and wants to get a Deron investment.

I wouldn't trade Gobert for George, and the Jazz won't either. I can see them trading Favors if they intended to keep Lyles, but that doesn't seem to be the case. Who would play the 4? Hayward and George are basically a wash in terms of who's more talented IMO (maybe that's my bias-- I've always thought Hayward is better offensively, and George defensively) so that doesn't make sense to me. Burke, Burks, Hood, 2017 first rounders, and 2019 first rounders aren't chump change-- but it's a hard sell to their fan-base.

That leads me to Exum. This kinda explains why we drafted another ball-handler, AND we're bringing in Neto. At first I was thinking "this literally makes zero sense"-- but they're probably just trying to bolster their PG play.

A package of Exum, Burks, filler, and picks seals the trade IMO. On par with basically most superstar trades that we've seen in recent memory (Melo, Deron, Love, Harden, etc.).

It just kinda hurts cuz I really do believe in Exum-- plus, him and George Hill are both pretty similar IMO. So why trade for Dante? Are they morons? Maybe they intend to ship Hill out too? Who knows.

They have PG signed for 3 more years (I believe), so they aren't trading him because they think he is leaving. No one does a trade like that with that much time left on a contract unless they are demanding a trade.

If it's anything it's that they want Carmello. Carmello is way better offensive player and Indy thinks they can put together a good defense because Vogel knows how to coach defense.

ESPN sources say that the Lakers and Pacers are actively discussing a trade where L.A. would take Roy Hibbert into salary-cap space

Not sure if this would have any impact on these talks

I'm sure you guys can come up with some brilliant 3 way trade ideas.

No way they trade George without getting a super-star back. They just signed Ellis to a 4 year deal, so that would indicate they want to compete now.

A Favors for George swap is probably the most realistic, but that doesn't really go with us "worshipping" Dennis like PKM hinted we would. I feel like we'd be 50/50 on that. The best FA PF we could pick-up right now would probably be West (limited window of effectivity from him), or we'd need to snag a PF from Houston.

Forgot about that-- that nullifies a Burks deal as well.

You're right-- they're probably going for Melo, if they're cutting ties with George. Explains the Brook angle as well. Your 3teamer trade > my 2teamer.

The deal just makes little to no sense for anyone but the Jazz, so I just don't see anything getting done. I say 90% we sign Lyles.

If Indiana was wanting to rebuild I could see a three way with LAC where we end up with Chris Paul, but I agree that the Monta deal makes it all seem pretty unlikely.

According to Jody G. the Jazz are talking with Lyles agent right now and working on the contract.

Looks like whatever deal had Lyles involved isn't going to happen.

More Lyles: nearly all rookie contracts end up paying 120% of rookie scale. But over half of contracts have incentives to reach full 120%.

Jazz and Rich Paul, Trey Lyles' agent, are negotiating on the exacts of those incentives, including summer development programs and bonuses.
