What's new

Trey Lyles Signed

If Trey plays. (what you will see)

He won't stuff any areas of the stat sheet, but you will see a lot of potential. You will see a player that is poised/comfortable. A player that will make a couple nice/smooth moves that make you say, "well.. just maybe."

Locke said that only 7 players haven't signed for the 120% their pick is allotted. Most of those 7 were signed by San Antonio when Lindsey was there.

It sounds like SA and Utah wants to put clauses in the contracts to pay the pick up to 120% depending on certain achievements. Lyle/his agent wanted the full 120%, no questions asked. I bet this happens more and more with Lindsey as the GM and the picks dropping in value every year.

No big deal.

I am glad this is coming to closure sooner rather than later.
My son starts his job at BestBuy this Thursday and I was afraid I would have to wait until then to see what was happening with Lyles...

Utah first rounder Trey Lyles gets done: four years, $10.4M.

Weird that Aldridge used the 4 year format in his tweet. Standard rookie contract

I hate it when I hear Jazz news the same day someone I know starts a new job, it's so awkward.

Trey hasn't even been in Utah. Its one thing for his agent to say lets not have him play full contact games until he's signed, its another to not even have him around to talk with coaches, train, etc. Seems like this was a negotatinig tactic on his camps part, not necessarily the Jazz holding out for cap room. Dennis is going to obviously say its on Jazz so that the fans don't turn on a player.

Ok. Interesting perspective. Thanks for the response.

Dude, his agent was trying to use leverage to get the stuff he wanted into the contract. Part of that leverage is holding Trey out of practices and from the coaches. You have to play hardball to get the things you want.

I dont see Trey as a problem type of player. I completely misread him from his interview, and first work out with the team.

I think he is very mellow, chill, down to earth type of player.

With that said I dont think we see him until Thursday night.

I don't like that Trey wasnt even in town. Makes me think he was being difficult with the contract, not the Jazz.

First round picks have a standard contract, they aren't a contract like in the NFL where you can negotiate your price.

Edit.... nevermind, nothing to see here

I agree that is what they were doing. I posted that I thought thats what they were doing when it was being reported that he only wasn't here because the Jazz needed cap flexibility.

You're not doin so hot today.

Pretty sure he was making a subtle best buy/Carlos boozer joke.

Yeah standard best buy joke, but honestly I don't think HeyHey/Salt13 was around when best buy jokes were all the rage 3-4 years ago.

Straight from UoU physical table to the ESA?

Haha... yeah would be good though.

He's 19. Get him out there. It's running and jumping. Plus, you're asking people to pay you $5+ to come, plus buy food and drink, plus buy NBA league pass.

Get the kid out there. There really is no excuse to not have a 19 year old kid drive 10 mins and run around for 20 mins.

After not being part of the team and training? I dunno if that's a good idea... Risk injuries too if he doesn't know what he's doing out there.

Risk injuries? The kid is 19. He's not 30. If he didn't know what he is doing out there he was a terrible pick. Most of summer league teams have no idea what they are doing.

You are asking fans to pay to watch these games. Give them a reason to pay to watch.

Just my opinion. Obviously the Jazz agree with you, but I think it's dumb.
