Trump Team Prepares Dramatic Cuts

That's not budget cutting, that's cutting out the 'liberal' budget line items conservatives have railed against for decades now. Cutting funding for the arts and climate change initiatives, for example, is not going to do a damned thing to reduce federal spending, but is will make lots of conservatives literally cream in their jeans from orgasms of unbridled joy. For many of these conservatives, it is not, and never has been about cutting federal government spending, it's always been about cutting the spending of programs important to liberals. This is a two-fer; it allows them to pretend that they're actually reducing the budget deficit, while accomplishing what really, truly matters to them: sticking their middle finger up at the liberals they hate so much.

I'll believe Trump and the conservatives are truly interested in cutting federal spending when they seriously take a whack at cutting military spending, which is a bloated big time waste of tens of billions of dollars of taxpayer money. (I fully believe the US needs a strong and prepared military, but the waste in the Pentagon is absolutely staggering.) Rather, I fully expect military spending to increase under Trump's reign.

Lol, tough guy?

Thanks for the laugh. There, your attention for the day.

You could simply have admitted you were wrong an manned up.

You know how much government audit an control waste goes in to preventing fraud an waste?

My friend works for Utah Dept of Agriculture sampling fishes for whirling disease an toxics an she says they use to book there travel on there own, base on the state hotel rate by city (which is very low she said). Anyhoo the auditors claim fraud by employees an now force them to book thru PRIVATE travel corporations that can book WAY ABOVE the state rate without second guessing.

So now you are ENCOURAGING employees to schedule there travels IN THE HIGH SEASON an stay at 4 star hotels cause the travel agent GETS PAID MORE for higher costs bookings.

So good job auditing an more government interference and corporate corruption influences. There are arready incentives in place to avoid gov't waste. It is called MANAGEMENT OVERSIGHT an possibly loosin your damn pension if you get yer hand caught in the cookie jar.

/babepost now youv been educated

Anytime Boris and DutchJazzer and their ilk decide to ruin a thread with their stupidity, one can almost hear the collective IQ of this board collapse. Conservatives have a large number of very intelligent, well-spoken people, how come we're stuck with the conservative village idiots?

Wrong.
Liberals an Obeezy doubled the national deficit an engaged in more wars then ever. Conservatives were against the Terror in Chief's neo-con war creations.
End of story.

The first sentence in your reply does not even begin to address anything I wrote.

The second part of your reply is unclear, but just in case you forgot, our involvement in Iraq and Afghanistan began under a Republic President, and the Iraq invasion was the brainchild of Republican neo-cons in the Bush administration.

Here, here!
or is it Hear, hear!?

anyhoooo....

So how much would this audit cost?

As an auditor and a CPA, I can tell you that all organizations receiving $750K in funding from the federal government during the year must have a "Single Audit" completed to verify that the monies were spent according to the grant or award. They can be expensive due to the high level of assurance required in an audit.

I don't see the IRS on there. That's the one thing that kills me about Trump. Give me a flat or fair tax, which naturally reduces the IRS. Stevie Goldman Mnuchin new tresury secretary out there saying we need more IRS workers is not an exciting thing.

Anyhow, these are just starting points. Nothing to get too caught up in now. More to come.

Disagree. Do you know how small the IRS's budget is compared to the federal budget? It's a fraction of 1%. The only way to substantially impact federal spending is through cuts to healthcare (medicaid, medicare, etc.), social security, or military. Every additional dollar added to the IRS's budget increases government tax revenue by $3-$5. If anything, increase the IRS budget and cut some military spending. You could cut 10% of military spending and it would be 6X the savings of the entire IRS budget.

It really pisses me off when people call Medicare and Social Security an entitlement. They're paid into over a lifetime. It's the peoples money. It's not like it's free money.

Your issue is not with the word itself but with the negative stigma attached to it by politicians regarding Social Security and Medicare. You'll see my point when you read the first definition.

That essentially the point I was making. So, yes, correct.
