TURKEY-FRANCE : FIirst game of the 2nd round

He also reacted to hitting that jump shot like a little schoolgirl, fist pumping, not because it was late in the game for some huge game-winning shot mind you, but because it was one basket that closed the huge gap his team was in from 22-8 to 22-10. That speaks volumes to me. He's not use to hitting that shot.

Or maybe he was just excited to play in front of his home crowd? That is such a ridiculous statement I don't even know if you are being serious. Kanter and Valacunias are both players who have high motors and show a lot of positive emotion on the court. I can't believe you are going to trash him for trying to light a fire under his team's ***. His team were playing like they were scared and he came in and gave them some big plays and energy.

Jonas has good length, but his lift looks abysmal. I love his energy, aggression, and confidence. He also knows how to play with teammates better than Enes right now although Lithuania seems to run an offense once in a while and actually pass him the ball. I actually think Enes looks like a better athlete than Jonas. Jonas is a toothpick and when he adds weight it will not increase his vertical. I think we should hold off on prognosticating how many all-stars he will have (unless you find it amusing, that is), but he probably will be an efficient center . He's no Derrick Favors though and only has a 1" higher reach!

Sorry but getting that excited after closing it to 22-10 with a jump shot is weak and tells me he's not use to hitting it.

He did one fist pump for crying out loud. If you forgot, he just stuffed Gasol's crap the play before. It's not like he did a dance or anything. Every run starts somewhere, and it usually comes from a big energy play that ignites the crowd. It was probably more of the rush of emotions having his whole country explode in applause. I'm pretty sure you are also one of the people who gets on to AK and CJ for how much they appear not to care, but then a player shows he cares and you **** on him too.

Correct. I like passion. Not estrogen. But I suppose at the end of the day I'd rather see the estrogen and get laid than have the indifference that is AK and impotence that is Smiles. So yeah, good job foe Jonas closing the gap to 22-10 I guess.

Check this out. When he wants he can jump. But when you have ridiculous long hands why would you always need to jump high? I think he is jumping just enough to dunk it.

I wish we would have official measurements of JV as those who are coming from Europe are in metric and I am guessing something is wrong with conversion to US system... in one website it says 7'6 wingspan, in other 7'4, standing reache as well different...anyway you look at it - he is long and with motor and energy he has he will be a very productive player in 3-4 years. Most important thing for both him and Kanter is to play a lot, get experience and avoid injuries.

When team scores 100pts vs Serbia in 40min game and 5 players score more then 13pts limited is not the right word to describe that team. LT is one of the favorites to win it all.

You cant hit 11/20s every game. They have good offense, but Spain played with them like cat plays with mouse. They made 30 pts in 3rd quarter. Lithuania can only dream about winning the title. They are good at taking advantage of the opposite teams weaknesses with their energy and home court advantage, but they are very LIMITED. It is enough to prove that with Kleizas absence. 19 yrs old Valanciunas is the best big guy, because the other ones suck. Turkey has a few very good players, Hedo, Ersan, Emir, Omer Asik, Omer Onan, Kanter but the problem is they cant manage to finish games. And Lithuania has good guards, Kalneitis and Jasikevicius, but we are opposite. Kerem sucks this tourney, and Ender doesnt have very good pg skills. Probably Turkey will be eliminated at this round, but even know, Turkey has more chance to win the champioship than Lithuania.

Valanciunas has a lot of good abilities, and he is very agile, but he still has too many deficiencies, much more than Kanter, and it is not only game experience. He should also get much more stronger to bang with those heavy centers in nba. I am not contesting that he is a good player already, but the guys are dreaming to make him a better defender Gasol just in one day. Gasol had too many medals, and when he is out Spain becomes completely different team , much more beatable.

Valanciunas being as good as gasol is as imposssible as Kobe is better than MJ equation.

Jonas is skinny, but he sure knows how to pick and roll.

Right now, it doesn't look like JV will be the kind of center that a good team can run its offense through. He doesn't really have any go-to moves. But his combination of length, quickness and scoring touch might make him an ideal complementary player to play off of a superstar forward. Imagine him playing off of Dirk Nowitzki, Blake Griffin, Lebron, or another forward who can draw the defense's attention. He'd be a lot to handle in that situation.

i agree with you, and i dont think he will be on the class of that superstars as many people imagines he will

Who thinks he is a super star? Pau Gasol is not a super star. And when I compare him to Gasol, I'm not saying he is going to be a carbon copy version of Gasol. Obviously he won't be as agile as him, but he has more size and strength. I think his perimeter and post offensive game can develop similarly though. It's funny people are still bringing up that Jonas is too skinny. Pau Gasol was much skinnier as a 19 year old, but he is doing fine in the NBA.

I agree with there being made too much of the 'skinny' thing. Sure, IF Jonnas were expected to play in the low-post and bang with the leagues beefy centers, then he needs a lot of bulking and strength. Who's to say that is where/how he would play if in the NBA right now? I've never been a Jonas hater, just always preferred Kanter.

I also admit that I prefer Kanter because I know his strengths and limitations far better than Jonas'. I am very comfortable that Enes will be a very good PF/C in the NBA and it won't take long. Which of the two will be better? Doesn't really matter. The Jazz selected Kanter, not Jonas, and now I have even more reason to be a Kanter supporter. I do think Kanter was the safer pick and I strongly doubt Jonas has much more upside, if any at all.

Having said all that, I look forward to seeing these kids play their guts out and allow us all to watch it all play out.

I still like the Tyson Chandler comparison for JV, and the Kevin Love comparison for Kanter.

huh? He is 19 years old and clearly his offensive game is getting better and better. Clearly he still has a lot of upside. just because one says they think JV will be a very good NBA player does not mean that Kanter will not be.

Sorry, either you didn't read my post, didn't understand it, or I just did a piss-poor job of getting my point across.

Ok, how did i misunderstand this part. I am still on my first coffee, but seems pretty cut and dry. By the way i certainly think Kanter is going to be a very good player for us.
