To console myself to the lack of Jazz playoff action I was trying to think about in a couple of years what are rotation will look like on our way to the championship.
Personally I think we need an 8 1/2 man rotation. The 8 are all getting 20 plus minutes and the 9th rotation player will play as matchups dictate.
A few things that I expect to happen-
-Paul Millsap will continue to improve as SF/face-up PF in the NBA. He can improve his ball skills and defensive awareness on the perimeter.
-Tomic will not be a significant factor.
- Jeremy Evans is not going to put on weight. He hasn't manage to do so for 4 years in college and has not done so this year either. So he is what he is- a very athletic energy player.
- Raja Bell is going to continue to fade away
-Price and Watson will not be significant factors in 2 more years. Price isn't good enough and Watson will be 33.
-Fess is what he is. The 11th or 12th man on the bench if he is on an NBA team.
-Memo is done.
-Big Al will make small improvements.
So our core players will be:
Hayward SG/SF
Favors PF/C
Millsap PF/SF
Jefferson C/PF
Still under contract Bell and Harris.
That means that we still need to fill 4 spots.
We desperately need a starting PG.
We need a starting SG or SF- Hayward can play the other spot.
We will need one more big man sometimes.
Possible Rotation
Starting PG 35/ Harris 13
Hayward 35/ Harris 13
Starting SF 28/ Miles or AK 20
Favors 23 /Millsap 25
Jefferson 35/ Favors 13
Millsap and Harris are the core of a good bench.
So does that look like a contender to you?
