What's new

Ty Corbin.

Oh, please.

You know damn well people jumped his **** right from the get go for no reason, and carried the same hate right on through no matter what Corbin did. They were bitching about him taking a horrible no All Star team with a bunch of new young numbskulls & no training camp to a very respectable 55% win record. That's about as far as you can reach to justify hating a successful coach.
OK, then with a full training camp, shouldn't he have taken an arguably better team to the playoffs this season? IMO, the team regressed. Defensively, there was no significant improvement. Jazz were weak inside and - AGAIN - had no answer for covering 3's. And offensively, the team was stagnant. The remarks about "Alfense" are warranted. If that was Ty's plan, then he shouldbe held accountable. He rode Jefferson right out of playoff contention.

question: should we fire the guy who hired ty, too?

Since you're a new fan, you may not know the history. Jerry Sloan hired Corbin. Corbin was named HC when Sloan quit.

Harris was clearly better than Mo, on both ends of the floor, and healthy too.
Replacing Bell, Howard, CJ with Foye and Marvin was a good try, but ultimately sucked ***. You didn't expect the defense to suck *** with Foye and Mo being the mighty front line? Sad to say that Roger Braille was 10x the defender Foye was, and almost as good at chucking threes too.
There was clear and ongoing improvement to Alfense. Apparently the history has to be repeated over and over to deaf ears. Ty tried to go away from Alfense at the start of the season. It had mixed results (worse than last season's start) and then Mo got hurt, so Ty had to start from scratch, again. So he tried to bring along the young guys even quicker, with an explicit focus on baseline and HORNS plays for Kanter-Favors, weak side triangle PnR with Hayward and other pnr, and getting Burks to resemble an player who could run within an NBA offense.

Ty needs to learn to motivate on the road and adjust his late game substitution patterns. The 2nd will be very easy for him to do, but the first relies a lot on personnel. Let's get an all star & a well rounded team and see what Ty can do.

For a little perspective, that's what that Chicago team did this year. Everyone hated on Corbin for not playing Kanter in '12 too, even though it couldn't have been more obvious to the outside world that he had no business being on the court.

And to follow that "you're an insider" nonsense up with the Jazz should have lost every game possible and tanked the **** into oblivion? That's about as far as you can reach to justify hating a successful coach.

Wow I didn't know there was still a Corbin apologist left on this forum... I guess there'll always be 1.

LOL.. even with LeBron and Wade on our team, and we'll still find ways to lose with Ty as Head Coach. I have absolutely no doubt about that in my mind.

I continue to support ty.

On one condition: He needs to get rid of that stupid theory that he has where Veterans are given first crack over ability. If he didn't do that, the team would be at least somewhat better. (not a lot better, the rookies would make mistakes that balance things)

Lol. Nothing. Just Franklin jumping to the race card shows how antiquated his ideas are.
At least he has ideas. The vast majority of the arguments against Ty are little more than ignorant temper tantrums.

It's no surprise that those who disagree with Franklin are silent when it comes to his tactical arguments and extremely loud when he mentions race. If the ignorant would just shut the **** up and listen for a while, they might learn something.

Interesting. Judging fan reaction on Twitter, the Jazz will never win another game because Tyrone Corbin is the coach and not Jeff Hornacek.

LOL.. looks like it's out in the open now that Jazz Fanzzzz EVERYWHERE HATES CORBIN!!!!!

Listen up Greg!!! The people have spoken!!!!

So you're a Ty lover? Please state your case.

1. Maybe you can point out where I said anything that indicates I'm a "Ty lover" (whatever the **** that is). Ignorant and illiterate; quite a combo.

2. This lover/hater **** needs to end. Perhaps it's time to start a new Jazz message board where ****-tards who see the world as a collection of haters aren't welcome.

Calm down bro, don't be like NAOS.. why does everything have to be so serious.

OK I'll go first then..

I'd much preferred my Head Coach to first and foremost be a Leader. Putting the basketball know-how/tactics aside, he has to lead by example. Be calm but at the same time savy and smart. You look at Mark Jackson who's only been coaching for a couple of years and you can tell, he's a leader. You look at Doc Rivers. You look at Phil Jackson. You look at Popovich. They're all great leaders. You can say 'well those are great coaches' - well my response would be, if you're competing with these guys, you also need to be GREAT. Lionel Hollins was an unknown before, but you can tell he is a great leader.

Ty also isn't a very good communicator. As an example, in those in-game interviews with ESPN, most coaches are calm and collected, getting to the point when they speak. Pausing and emphasizing things where needed. Ty usually just rambled on a bunch of gibberish in a 1 pitch/1 tone speech that just puts half the audience to sleep in 10 seconds flat. Not to mention those in-game talks that he gives... I'm sorry but I don't feel inspired when I hear him speak. You compare that to Mark Jackson who is a great motivator and you see a vast difference.

So...You need a coach who's a leader, and you can tell that a coach is a leader by the in-game interviews he gives. Brilliant.

This post is teeming with so much hatred and darkness. Srs, bro, why u try to make everyone so evil? WWJD, not see the worst in people especially on holy sabbath that's for sure.

How'd I do?

A leader can be defined as someone you want to be lead by.

Given the choice of the 30 Head Coaches in the NBA, Ty is the last coach I want to be lead by on a basketball court.

Who would you rather be led by?

JF bitched when Ty was mic'd up about how sad his "cheerleading" was. Then the blind haters bitched that he didn't cheerlead like doc rivers and mark Jackson. When someone can't win, you know your opinion is taint.
