Undisputed HATES Gordo going to the Celtics. Claims big mistake

I don't think Hayward went into a better situation talent wise. They are going to drop at least two key pieces to bring him in, and will still deal with additional max type contracts next year, or risk losing players. Honestly, I don't like IT, and I think he will always hold that team back.

I do think he went into a better system for his skillset, and he will make the ASG/get more hype in Boston.

Utah and Boston are kind of opposites. They have way more offensive talent than Utah, but less defensive talent (though they do have very good perimeter players who can put on heavy pressure). I wouldn't say either team was significantly more talented than the other, just different.

I thought what Utah had going for it though was they were younger and could make him the focal point. The negatives for Utah were pretty big though (injury concerns limiting upper ceiling potential, the warriors exist in the West, and Utah probably cant afford as big of a LT bill that Boston can).

Skip Bayless is someone who really over values BS hero ball style of play. He is the guy who hates on Lebron because he makes the correct pass instead of forcing up bad contested shots. He is going to absolutely grill Hayward these next few years for his style of play.

Well, if Boston keeps their core together beyond next year, they'll be paying $150+ Million annual payrolls (and heavy taxes). And that's for a team featuring Horford and IT as core members.

I think the debate about talent looks pretty interesting if you forecast both teams into 2018-19, account for the age of the main pieces, look at the lux tax implications, etc.

Boston's ownership group is comprised of 10 billionaires. Am I saying they will forever pay a huge tax bill? No, but I think it's pretty obvious they have a higher spending limit than what Utah's trust fund can handle.

Boston has so many ways they can go its pretty hard to project them. I assume they made some sort of promises to Hayward in regards to how they plan to build the team that appealed to him.

I don't doubt that possibility. But being in that territory severely limits options for talent acquisition and retention. And Boston's window isn't really gonna open up in a serious way before all these high draft picks need to be paid.

Hayward is an efficient guy but he doesnt have the strong and competitive character as Jimmy Butler. And he isnt more talented than PG13. And not smart to compare either to Millsap or Love. He isnt a post player for sure. Anyway time to get over Gordon. We should move on.

Yeah, when they pointed out he doesnt rebound as well as Love it was a bad look. Clearly they only made the comp because of skin color.

I just don't see what is so important, except for contract wise, to being an all-star. I seriously though am more of a team guy.

I just can't value why Gordon would want to be an all-star over his relationship with his teammates that he had here. I really couldn't turn my back on these guys that I went to war with for 4 years.

Other podcasts are scared for Gordo. They think if the celtics regress from where they are now (shedding salaries, trading players, etc) the fans there will even turn on him. :(

Pretty spot on. They were wrong about one thing. Boston doesn't get Hayward without giving up anything. Ainge has to give up Olynyk, Crowder and even one of Smart/Bradley just to make room. So for them, it's like trading Olynyk, Crowder, one of Bradley/Smart for Hayward. To me that's not a good trade at all...

Also, what's the point of planning for the future when your two biggest prospects play the same position as Hayward. How are they gonna to develop by sitting on the bench? Specializing their towel waving skills I guess?

I bet Ainge will trade away Heywood to the Nets in a couple of years to make room for Tatum and Jaylen Brown.

Hope Robyn enjoys the sceneries in Brooklyn

Regardless of whether Hayward is Bird/an all-star/etc & how he fits in BOS, he was invaluable to this team. He is a legit #2/3 on a championship caliber team (which are extremely difficult for small-market teams to obtain). Losing him hurts but you can't deny his talent

Ainge's approach will determine if this was a mistake. If he goes with IT/GH/AH + remaining players/assets, then Hayward likely will regret this (barring a superstar developing). But (unfortunately for us), if he plays it right, DA has the opportunity to build a potential dynasty.

I forget where but I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that Hayward pays attention to future asssts/etc. If true, it's hard to fault him for viewing BOS as the better shot at a ring.

Sorry for the depressing post...I do believe, with the right approach, luck, good drafting, & shrewd transactions that we still have tbe assets to eventually contend. And luckily DL appears capable of doing so.

If Heywood does pay attention to future assets, he should know that Boston's two biggest future assets(Tatum and Jaylen Brown) will be sitting on the bench next season and watching him play. You are right about one thing. If Ainge plays it right, BOS does have a very bright future. But I doubt Heywood will be part of it

Also, the fact that DA didn't draft Fultz makes me wonder whether Hayward was truly on the fence so DA was hedging his bets or if he sold Hayward on a long-term plan of eventually packaging a surplus of assets for a true superstar.

Both of which are highly valuable trade assets, not to mention the future BKN + LAL/SAC & excess talent. Also, I would be shocked if Hayward isn't part of the long-term future. I expect him to be the young veteran leader/2nd coach, IT to get traded by the deadline, & the FO to attempt to move Horford while continuing to stockpile assets for the next available superstar.
