Why? He comes off of the bench for LA. He's far older than Millsap and he's on his last legs.If you're concerned that Millsap makes it hard to commit to Kanter and Favors, the prospect of Gasol should terrify.
If we don't bring back Sap and roll with something like:
Burke/Burks/Tinsley
Hayward/Burks
Carroll/Hayward/Marvin
Favors/Second draft pick/Evans
Kanter/Random FA
I think we could land a top 10 pick with lots of pieces to move up for a star.
... then that means either Favors or Kanter will be coming off the bench for another 4-5 years, ...

Your faith in Evans is heart warming. You think a second round pick will waltz in and be better than him? Lol.
Also, there is no guarantee that the quoted squad would be worse than this year's team.
Your post is saved by your mention of Burke. That would be rad.
He's not on his last legs, and he has basically stated that he will demand a trade at the beginning of next season if his role remains the same. Why? He comes off of the bench for LA. He's far older than Millsap and he's on his last legs.
I was hoping to keep Sap earlier this year when I thought Favors was ready to start and Kanter needed a little more time.... Recently Kanter has shown he can compete with starters night after night. Sap off the bench would be great. Does Ty have what it takes to make that happen?
I'd bring back Millsap in a bench role or as a starter at the three. It might take a new coach to get that to happen.
I see it more likely that Utah will sign Jefferson, though on a 3-year deal, $34m. I don't think they have faith in starting Kanter and that will give them a few years to ease Kanter into the starting unit.
Allowing both Millsap and Jefferson to walk gets rid of all Utah's frontcourt depth.
On the other hand signing even one of them destroy's any chance of all of the core 4 from remaining with the team. I hope they are not stupid enough to bring either of them back. Front court depth can be obtained without failed experiments.I'd bring back Millsap in a bench role or as a starter at the three. It might take a new coach to get that to happen.

Try like hell to get Sap to agree to the sort of deal being discussed here.
Resign Carroll
Let Al, Foye and Watson walk.
Resign Tinsley as the 3rd string PG.
Make Marvin a bench player.
Start Favors, Burks and Kanter.
Make Sap, Hayward and Marvin the main bench guys.
Try like hell to use all that cap space to land a true threat at PG. If that fails then try like hell for a SF.
Hold head coach interviews and get a decent coach in here.

I don't like a lot of what you have said. Foye is a good, valuable player. If you can get him for 2.5 million, you keep him.
Hayward is light years better than Burks right now. He should be starting at the beginning of LAST season.
This is what you do:
#1, #2, #3: Get a new coach. The sooner the better.
Try to get Calderon for a good price. If you can get him for 5 mill per, you take it and run.
Draft a pg.
You are already set at sg.
Resign DeMare.
Sign Hickson or Landry or some other effective big (Gray).
This is where you sit:
Stan Van Gundy - coach
Calderon/Burke/some other new pg
Hayward/Burk/Murphy or Leslie
Williams/Carroll
Favors/Hickson/Evans
Kanter/Gray
This gives you some good, minute eating gritty guys, but places the team squarely in Hayward's and Kanter's hands. It allows you to also play Favors and Burks a lot.
It also doesn't tie you up long term, so if that perfect trade comes along, you can move players and make this team a contender. If the team struggles, you try to get Jabari.
Keeping Hayward has nothing to do with being better than Burks. It is where Hayward excells at the most. One of the few things I think Ty has right.
Saying number 1,2 and 3 is get a new coach is no different than where I called for a new coach.
I said resign Demarre and so did you.
I didn't suggest getting a SG and neither did you.
I said go after a PG and so did you.
So basically your only differences are:
Sign a PF other than Sap.
Start Hayward over Burks
Get crappy people for next year, like Calderon, so that we can tread water for another year.
