What's new

Utah Jazz AT the Charlotte Kittens on ROOT Sports 1280 AM/ 97.5 FM when? 5:00

Foye needs to be down to 20 minutes at least. He's the classic player you leave on the floor if he's hot, yank if he's not. His "value" has little to do with who else is on the floor.

I can agree with this. I do like the way he has played with Burks at the point though.

yeah, if burks is at point they're limited with options at the 2, especially with marvin out and gordon playing the majority of his minutes at 3.

If this sticks, it's a monument to how poor of a brain Ty has that he used it in the pre-season, only to dump it stricly because of tenure (has anyone yet devised a real reason he benched Burks to begin with?).

I'm just glad the asinine "Burks hasn't earned it" or "Burks has proved nothing" comments have (at least temporarily) stopped. I think its pretty clear whenever he plays extended minutes that he easily already is a rotation player in the NBA, in some capacity. That its evident in his second year (though I thought it was after his first) is what's promising.

(Knocking on wood... don't want a stupid I told you so post to derail the general consistency we're seeing from him) Like any youngn' I expect there to be plenty more ups and downs. FT shooting is paramount.

How about Al with 4 And 1s. I know it was against the Bobcats, but still, that's awesome.

And damn near 8 guys were in double figures. A great complete team effort tonight.

And nothing against Earl, but he just played his way to the deep bench IMO.

Big Al has been playing more physical lately, even guarding the pick n roll better as of late.

Did you miss the first 3 1/2 quarters of the Mavs game? Dude has shown that he can move his feet when he wants to. On defense, he only wants to move his feet about 20% of the time.

Burks' game has not grown at all and he's playing exactly like he has since he was drafted. He started this year playing amazing team ball, showing exceptional court vision and passing, and adding solid FT shooting. Ty and the coaching staff have done nothing to shape his current game. He's looked like a PG from day one, like he does now. I can't believe he hasn't got more PT until now.

Man I was getting so mad at Al. I agree that he can move his feet on D. He just gives up and it pisses me off.

But, but, but he's a veteran donchya know. Must rely on solid veterans, according to Tyrone. Even if their only talent is shooting and they are doing that at a below 40% rate. Guess he knows how to miss like a veteran.

Yeah I'm not a big Big Al fan but his game yesterday was just dominating.
He also looked to pass a lot more and even had a nice cut. Might be overall one of the complete best games I've seen of him...probably also because he didn't have to play defense.

He was good because he didn't just rely on post up. He got a lot of his points slashing to the hoop and getting a pass setting up a easy dunk or layup.

it also didnt hurt that he was playing against a team og high school and collage lvl guys either....

The problem is that Hayward and Burks get stuck on screen a lot. Foye does better chasing guys like Ben Gordon.

I can't tell if this is sarcasm. Watching the game last night, Foye came into the game in the fourth and promptly gave Gordon two wide open jumpers that he made because he opted to go under the screen. It's easy to not get hung up on screens if you never try to fight through them. He then got lost on a switch and gave Gordon an open lane to the basket for a layup that he missed. He gave up 5 points to Gordon in two and a half minutes.

With Mo out how can anyone complain about Foye getting minutes as long as Burks and Hayward are still getting minutes? Who would you rather have out there Tinsley, Watson or Carroll? Granted it was only for garbage minutes but you saw what happened when Burks worked with Carroll and Murphy, he needs another guard out there that can help so that can run a two guard front and him not running a single PG front.

But yes everything bad last night was clearly on Corbin and anything good was in spite of him... carry on with that.

It probably should have been. I trying to put my son to sleep as I watched the game and missed those shots in the 4th by Gordon over Foye. Now that I don't trust my memory of the game, I guess Foye probably didn't play good D in the first half either.

Don't get me wrong, I don't dislike Foye at all, and I think he has a place on the team at the moment. Probably in a lessened role to only take advantage of his one quantifiable nba skill, shooting; but, to suggest he does a better job moving on defense than Hayward or even Burks, is just not accurate. To be fair, Gordon was lighting everyone up in the fourth, because he was hot.

I still hold to the theory that he is just really slow mentally. Not dumb, but just takes him an extra second or two to process stuff on the court.

And yeah, I actually only watched the 4th quarter for the Mavs game (on League Pass) because I had work that night.
