Utah Jazz forward Thabo Sefolosha is expected to undergo season-ending surgery on an MCL injury

Jesus man can the jazz ever catch a break? We are the most injury cursed team in the league the last few years. Maybe there is no solution, but it is the biggest problem facing this team. The constant injuries really limited last year's team, which could have been a lot better if they were even just slightly healthier, and you've got to wonder if that has any effect on Hayward's decision. I don't want to blame it on the training staff or anything--because I don't know if it's there fault. There's no way of knowing if they could be doing more/different things or if it's just really bad luck. One thing I do know is that the front office has got to start heavily factoring and scouting durability. We just can't succeed if our main guys can't stay on the floor. We've got to put durable guys around Mitchell and Gobert, and hope Gobert has just had bad luck lately. Really hoping that Exum, too, has just had terrible freak accidents and that he will come back and be healthy for the rest of his career. Exum is looking more essential to this franchise. We really need him to be good.

Some guys, like Favors and Hood, are injury prone and constantly seem to have nagging injuries. For them it's not the big injuries that are accidents and unavoidable, but that they are actually prone to small, constant injury problems. We should take that into account when it comes to Hood's next contract.

I am just so frustrated by this the past few seasons. We really never know what we have or what we could be/could have been.

Thabo was one of the few guys on our roster who played like he gave a damn. Really sad to see him go down and maybe have played his last game in a Jazz uniform. Really just want guys who care and play hard to be on the floor at this point. This team is definitely going to miss his leadership. Not really getting it from any of the other vets. Not sure if Mitchell can be that guy who keeps the locker room together in his rookie season. Thabo was that guy for us this season by all accounts. He also seems like a really good dude, so best wishes to him and hope he makes a full recovery.

There was nothing training staff could do... there was contact causing knee to buckle the wrong way.

We are cursed... Vivent is built on an ancient Indian burial ground.

Torn MCL shouldn’t slow him down for next year - even with surgery. He’s really cheap for his production and role on the team. I think he’ll be critical next year when the Jazz are back in the playoffs and hoping to make some noise. They need guys who can slow down high scoring wings. Especially when teams go small and rotations tighten up.

My personal belief is that he’s much more valuable as a member of the Jazz next year than as anything they could get back as an asset for his expiring deal.

Do we get a roster exception? I know we didn’t for Exum but I’m not sure how this works. Bolomboy is available, though I’m not certain we’d be allowed to sign him.

Unlikely. Paperwork, including approval of an NBA physician, needs to be submitted by Jan 15. And it seems Thabo is looking for second opinions in order to avoid surgery.

I like Joel and will be happy to bring him back. He is in first G league team and makes good games. He makes exactly what Jazz needs - rebounds and points.

But we won't have a roster spot available. I expect O'Neale to get more minutes

If he has to have surgery and we can't get a roster exception, I fully expect Thabo to be traded.

Jazz are cursed. I jyst cant figure out who did it. John amechi, Memo, Jerry Sloan, Deron Williams, the cleveland owner that Boozer screwed, or Rodger Braile. Looking at the seasons....im leaning towards blaming Rodger Braile.

I was naively optimistic with the new training staff acquisitions. I know all of the injuries has been things training staff couldn't prevent, but still a huge disappointment to have so many injuries yet again.

Gail Goodrich.

He cost the Jazz Magic Johnson and Moses Malone.

Scott Layden. Even Frank came out expressing that they were offended he wasn’t considered for the GM job when dennis was hired (he’s lucky we had him back on the coaching staff after what he did to NY). In fact, he was so pissed he took the Minnesota job for the sole purpose of partial retribution by sending us Rubio.

He went to Jamaica and learned voodoo from a woman in a back alley (Raja is how a Jamaican says Rodger, BTW). The timing of our injuries lines up with Layden’s exodus. Rubio was icing on the cake.

anybody find it absolutely astonishing that rudy had two 200+ lb guys roll directly into his knee and he's actually DUE to come back?
this goes to show you, some people are titanium, and others are built of glass(d.rose)

titanium knees right there.

Try Gordon Hayward

Maybe our "karma" is that most everyone here, me included. Are always putting down our players. Lots of negative vibes around here. We talk trash constantly about our own... maybe??? Naw I'm not superstitious... or am I..

I think its too early to judge. Realistically it should take 2-3yrs to see tangible results.
