Burks smile is awesome!

Just observing Burks here and there since his rookie year, I think he kinda loves fights. He's always in he middle, always calm and collected and almost always smiling. And the few times he's been the guy in the potential fight, he looks confident and ready to kick ***.

It was a good team effort win for the Jazz, even though it's just preseason. Lyles sure does has game, I'll admit that. Hope he did really well for us this year.

Couple of things stand out from your post. Of course not a mention for Burke. The guy cant seem to do right by a lot of you. Even when he has a good game he is ignored.
Burke looked good playing mostly off-ball with Burks and Hayward in the first. He looked worse the rest of the game. Pretty much the same as Game 1.

may as well replace him with a good floor-spreader and excellent off-ball player. (Hood).

1. Has Hibbert always been such a flopper? That plus his fake tough guy face all game was comical.

2. Withey and Lyles looked really good. It's going to be tough to juggle the bigs if/when Pleiss and Lyles add strength.

3. Alec Burks.

We were all happy to see that out of Burks last night, but I know Fish was likely creaming... he has stuck by his guy all along. It looks like we gonna see that potential fulfilled.

Less defensive attention gives him the space he needs to be effective. I really don't want him in there with the second team because it gives him a license to chuck. I think Hood can create his shot as good as anyone on our team and think it may be better for him to be the guy who carries the second unit.

End of games role with Hood, Burks, Hayward... all three can handle, create, and pass. You can't tell me we wouldn't be better on defense too. Replacing Burke with Hood gives us much more length.

Also, Burke looks better on defense, shooting, and going to the basket. If he can give us one good quarter of basketball a night it may be all we need. He turned the ball over 3 or 4 times in the 3rd when he was out there with the bench guys doing too much. Bring Neto off the bench. He doesn't create much for himself, but with Ingles, Hood, etc. he can create for others.

Of everyone, I'm super excited Lyles played a decent game. Withey looked great also but I really wanted to see Lyles contribute and he did.

I'd like to see a consistent 48 minutes

He gave us a consistent 48 last year... it just was consistently ****ty.

Really good post

This whole team is fun to watch and great to root for. If the worst thing we have to endure is some chucking by Trey and Tibor offensive goal tending 2 or 3 shots a night it will be a great year.

Millsap looks much better from a ball handling perspective as well. Trey Lyles I think is at his best when on the floor with good players... not a focal point type of guy... a chemist/mixer type.

Yep.
My expectations for lyles are really low.... I hated that pick.
Having said that I like him and if he can be a good shooter then I think he will prove me wrong since he is a skilled ball handler and passer for his size/position/age.

If he contributes much this year then it's just icing on the cake.

If Lyles can become a consistent 38%+ three-point shooter (especially from the top of the arc), then....... very nice. When open, I'd like to see him take that without hesitation. He's very good at attacking a closeout.

Which is why I like Snyder pushing multiple ball handlers on the Jazz. Having a point forward with multiple ball handlers with Burke as a catch and shoot option is the way to go.

I basically had zero expectations for him this year... looks like he can be serviceable at very least. His defense is what worries me most. I don't think he's confident with the three yet, so I'm okay with him attacking with the pump fake for now.
