Nope, certainly not single-handedly. Late buckets by Harris, and-one by Millsap. Burks was the player of the quarter, but it most-deinitely wasn't a single-handed affair. Nor did he play a huge role in setting up baskets that other players scored, or drawing fouls/scoring in the last possessions of the game. Burks has never been in that environment. He'd probably thrive in it though, we just haven't seen it yet

EDIT: Thanks Thee, and Gli.

Oh so burks was not the only player who scored in that lakers game? thanks for informing me. So when you said hayward single handedly beat the lakers then i guess nobody else on the team had a single point or rebound huh? Stupid to say harris scored and millsap scored. Of course other guys scored. But i still have that game on my dvr and watched it a few weeks ago when i need a fix and burks was the main reason for the win. (although kanter played a great game as well, burks was the one to take over in the 4th quarter, which is what i think he will be doing alot for us in the future.)
As far a people complaining about burks shot selection: He only gets a few minutes and probably feels like he needs to show off his best skill (scoring) so he needs to put the ball in the basket as quickly as possible before he gets pulled.

I know this: Last year in alot of close games at the end we gave the ball to hayward for the final play and it usually was a big fail. I believe that burks will be the guy who gets those oppurtunities in the future due to his extreme confidence/cockiness

You mean the game where Kanter destroyed LA's entire front court. This is one of the few games Burks excelled, but doesn't come even close to what Hayward did to the Lakers in his rookie season. For 4 quarters he put the team on his back, and shut the door on Kobe to win it for the jazz. .

blah... what a homeristic statements. Kanter destroyed LA's front line? Didn't Bynum scored 33 points in that game? Hayward shooting down Kobe (who was injured by the way ) is a myth you guys keep raving about. Kobe lost ball on his last possession, Hayward had nothing to do with it, simple bad turnover by Kobe, ball slips out of his hands, game over.

My severe Burks homerism won't allow me to pick him yet. That being said, at this stage I don't believe there are any right or wrong votes, other than one guy. No knock on Hayward who I love as well, just a tiny bit less than the other three on the list.

After all this pumping up burks i pull up the box score from said lakers game and find that maybe i dont know what im talking about.

Burks numbers: 7 for 10 from the field. 1 for 1 from 3. 2 for 3 from the free throw line, all in only 20 minutes..... however millsap led the team with 24 pts and burks was -12 in +/- for the game. (lowest on the team)

Damn when i watched the game though it seemed like he took over the 4th quarter and willed them to the win. I guess im just too big of a homer when it comes to burks, since the jazz have never had a dynamic scoring wing, or as hack said, an alpha dog wing.

Here's what we know.

Hayward

Great defender. Much better defender than anyone expected. Excellent team player. Passes the ball very well. Has great handles. Can use left or right hand.

Wrong, according to synergy stats and as much as I hate Locke - according to him as well - Hayward is bellow average defender. Jazz defense was always better without him on the floor then with him - simple facts, argue all you want but numbers do not lie. His left is not great - he can dunk with left, never seen him scoring layup, hook shot or any other shot but dunk with left hand.

but i'm not gonna pretend like this is an easy decision. we're in the top 5 now, which means whoever you vote off, it's going to hurt a little. i hope we keep burks and give him every chance at realizing that star potential. in the meantime, i'm going to make sure that MY top three are the three guys who have both a future AND a bit more of a resumé. paul, gordon and derrick are my last three to go. sorry, alec.

About as eloquently as you can state it.

Lol. Well hey, at least you came forward with things and accepted your mistake like a man. Will rep you for it, if it allows me. Watch both quarters again sometime, Burks was unstoppable through that quarter but he didn't carry the team until the final second like Gordon did. Theres a reason nobody talked about Burks after that Lakers game, in contrast with Kobe saying: "I'm very, very fond of him. He's a very skilled all-around player, I think he is going to have a very bright future in this league. (Hayward) reminds me of a more talented Jeff Hornacek. Jeff couldn't put the ball on the floor as well as he can."
and Phil Jackson even acknowledging his talent, a rare praiser of rookies. Two different games, with Hayward's performance definitely the more impressive of the two

What about Kobe shooting 6/20 that game? His injury wasn't affecting him to the same extent on games before, and afterwards. Please, keep the ******** piling. Its fun proving you wrong.

Never seen him scoring layup? Numbers do not lie? You want Hayward to score with hook-shots? Below-average defender??

This dude has got to be an alternate.

Find me evidence of Hayward scoring layup with left hand.

LOL, how about from the very game that we were talking about??

Around the 1:40 mark.

Keep failing.

He shot 6-18 in that game... so who is wrong? 4 games prior to that game he shot 11-25, 8-21, 6-14, 10-27....mere .400 FG so not that much better than in game you claiming Hayward shut him down.

Haha buddy, what about literally the night after the Lakers game? Kobe shooting 50% off of 20 attempts.

This is fun.

PS: Please respond to my video post. Im sure you'll get a great kick out of it.

Ok, I was wrong, he made ONE layup with left hand.

You're an absolute joke. I'm off to bed. It was good destroying you for the 784974th time, please come with better material/assertions by next week.

And the next night 10-25 again. Kobe was in shooting slump all season due to his injured finger. But of course you guys can't look at things objectively and think that Hayward did some kind of magical defensive job. Why he could not do it next couple times Jazz faced Kobe and Lakers when Kobe dropped 26 and 40 pts on us?
