I started this after I got home from the games, finished it this morning.
The Jazz did a fabulous job staging this event. My kids had a blast at the carnival, even though we got wet, very wet. We came away with a bunch of free swag: Jazz t shirts, Jazz water bottles, and a tide pen from afcu. They had little Caesars and Cup bop food trucks outside. I thought cup bop was good, but not as good as the hype.
I bought tickets at the arena, walked right up -around 5:30, no lines. I bought general admission, they had to open extra sections of the upper bowl to seat everyone. I really wanted to sit lower bowl, but not feasible with the family. Many great lower bowl seats available. I'd like to go back with a buddy and sit lower bowl.
Okafor was better than I thought he'd be. People compared him to Al Jefferson. Those people have either never seen Al play or never seen Okafor play, because they are not the same. He moves smooth, is alert and in the right place. He will be very good.
Furkan Aldamir has a great name and fabulous euro game. He would an excellent 4 th big. He Is in the right spots, and is aggressive, just lacks a little of the NBA physical tools.
Jp Tokoto seemed to be pressing.
McRae is a player...where did philly get him?
Bostons pigs are going to destroy philly.
I hate the Spurs. Maybe hate is too strong, but I certainly have spur envy. As an aside, I wanted to rip the spurs shirt off that little twerp in the Jazz video. Seriously, who allowed some kid in Spurs gear to make it into the Jazz spirit video? Really it was the only blemish on the entire evening. Back to hating the Spurs....first game of summer league and their guys have perfect floor spacing and make nearly every defensive rotation. It made Philly look like a pick up team by comparison.
Jean livo, caddy Lalange both can play in the NBA. Livo was impressive rim defender. He had a block and dunk combo that was fabulous. Dairis Bertans should be on the spurs roster.

I went walking around the arena, saw the 1280 studios...but couldn't find PK.
I stood in line for popcorn, then bumped into Antoine Carr who was standing near Memet Okur.

I was looking forward to Smart v Exum
at first I was disappointed. Exum looked just like he did in april. Reluctant, hesitant, a lot of horizontal dribbling-- meaning he dribbles side to side without making a move towards the basket. Then he caught the ball in the corner, and started dribbling out, then quickly crossed over Smart and drove baseline. I don't remember if he scored, but it was a nice move and showed great awareness. There is still something concerning about him, I think it is the horizontal movement that bothers me. Or maybe it is he loses his handle quite a bit, or maybe I'd like him to finish strong at the rim. But he is young, the ability is there if the coaches can teach the mindset.
Bryce Cotton is a player. I love his game, his energy and his court gravity.
Rodney Hood is clearly several steps beyond everyone else. Great court awareness, the game slowed down for him, he created space and made shots. I would like to see him play against the Spurs' Bertans but nobody on Philly compares to him, he should probably retire from summer league so he doesn't get injured. I am really excited for him.
Smart is a tough guy, we would love him if he was a Jazzman. We will jeer him for years.
RJ Hunter looked lost and overwhelmed. I felt bad for him. Lots of fouls, couldn't find his place in their offense. D-league for him.
Chris Johnson had two NBA moves early in the game. A three from the side, and a drive to basket. I thought he was going to explode for the game, I wanted him to explode, then he kind of went missing.
Jack Cooley is a bruiser, I wish he was 2 inches taller. I loved the hard pick on Marcus Smart on the play Dante sprained his ankle.
JaJuan Johnson should be in the league.
Mikey for Boston is a decent player.
My section wanted Rudy to get up to knock that ball off the top of the back board. Epic fail by the fans for not raising the rafters with chants of "Rudy, Rudy, Rudy" when his picture was on the jumbotron.

Wifey took pictures of the family at the game, but couldn't find a Utah Jazz Summer League hashtag --who is doing the Jazz Social Media? Missed opportunity there.
