Utah Trade Deadline Discussion

I'm glad the jazz have won a couple games in a row.

I'm worried if we win a couple more that the jazz will not make a trade. I feel like this happens with the jazz often around the trade deadline. We get a little hot right before the deadline so jazz decide not to mess with what they think is working.

Hopefully I'm wrong about that this year. Plus the contract situations will make them do something.

The jazz next play on tuesday and only play once in the next 6 days. The calendar is very advantageous for a trade. Maybe it is still too far away from away deadline deadline.

It really is crazy what a couple games could do. Had we lost the last two games, I could see us making a Hood and Favors to NOLA trade this weekend. They need the help and the trade for us would have been logical.

Now that we have won the last two, we wouldn't want to help a team we might catch.

Favors would be a rental for NO. I don't think that they would have much interest in him since it's doubtful that he would help them win anything this year and then he would probably be allowed to walk when they try to re-sign Boogie. I think that they would have a ton of interest in Hood though.

Maybe or maybe not. Favs may be way cheaper than people think and Boogie may get a huge offer. With this injury it is generally a two year injury and I can’t remember a guy his size coming back from this. Not that it’s a career ending injury but dude relies on his size and speed which puts stress on everything.

I could see a scenario where he does not come back to NO because they aren’t willing to give the max and someone else is. The timing of this injury may cost him the better part of next year. They are on the clock with AD... no playoffs this year or next may force their hand.

Pretty ****** deal for them... I honestly feel bad. Being in Sac I’ve heard a bunch of stories about how Cousins is a dick but also seen some cool stuff he’s done. He’s a complicated dude but seems to be maturing and figuring things out... I also like that AD wants to stay in NO and win there... circumstances may cause that to change.

I don’t think it changes things that much tbh but it would be a bad look and I imagine a couple guys would be pissed either way... those guys are all well liked.

If anything the more they win, the more likely they are to make a trade.

But yeah, I don't think you trade Hood to the Pelicans unless it's a great deal, which the Pelicans can't make. Not a great idea to give Anthony Davis any good players if you can help it.

If we like Frank Jackson we could do Udoh for Frank and Ajinca. Gives them a good center on the cheap and a little wiggle room under the LT to bring in a buyout guy... I would have to check with the trade machine doe.

Nvm... doesn’t work salary cap wise.

Plus, Donovan plays much better with rest. I’m hoping a lighter load up to the All Star break will give him the rest he needs to lead the team on a playoff push at the end here. With Denver, L.A. and New Orleans dealing with different issues, I could see the Jazz fighting their way back into it. It’ll be a hard fought slog, but I don’t think it’s impossible.

Yep. Screw the Pels. Hope that **** blows up on them and they’re forced to move AD in two years. Between that and the repeater tax killing the Warriors, there’s a good chance that the West looks very different in 2020.

I really don't see the FO making any trades out of concern for this season, unless we go on a run and are near playoff contention at the deadline, and maybe not even then.

Trade deadline is in like two weeks.

I'm aware of that. Utah is five games back of Denver with five games to play before the Deadline. If somehow Utah found a way to be sitting at the 8 seed or a game or two out maybe that changes the calculus a bit at the deadline.

Would anybody be okay trading Burks for Al Jefferson? Al has a nonguaranteed contract for next year. Honestly, I would be okay waiving him immediately to open a roster spot. Indy plays Al 14 mpg right now. And in the playoffs, Al is pretty worthless. Burks might do all right there. Low risk for Indy.
