Utah Trade Deadline Discussion

I don’t think so. Certainly not to the degree that it jumped initially.

Are you guys kidding... I knew about it as a fan so absolutely teams knew about it. Many people pointed it out.

I love the idea of Gordon, but I cringe at $30 million a year. I'd entertain the idea of Stanley Johnson, and I love that he only makes $4 next year. Are they the same? No. Are their 3rd years halfway through similar? I think they are.

Get Fournier. Get Johnson. Get rid of Burks. As Donovan says - "LET'S GO"

My prediction for a Hood trade... Hood and either Joe Jesus or Favs to Philly Bayless, Korkmaz (fairly serious injury fyi), Philly's top 12 protected pick to Utah. Top 10-12 protected for a few years.

They keep max space... get a guy that fits. If they are going to impress the super FAs this summer they need to for sure make the playoffs. They have a million second rounders, another first rounder (maybe), and kind of have a roster crunch. Hood's RFA rights would be valuable to them... they can hunt for the big guys and have a fall back plan.

Stanley Johnson is closer to Chris Singleton than Aaron Gordon. And I sincerely doubt Gordon gets maxed.

Gordon is only eligible for the 0-6 year max salary, which is 25% of the cap. Cap's projection at around 100 "units" ( ) so Gordon with Jazz would get 25 a year with 5% raises.

Jazz matched the offer in July and the TV deal didn’t happen until October. The salary cap has nearly doubled since 2013. It wasn’t anywhere close to a sure thing. Negotiations were going on, but there was no guarantee that everything would work that way.

Makes a lot of sense. I don't think the Jazz would do Hood + Favors for that package, but I think they might do Hood + JoeJ. And I think the 76ers would do that deal. I wonder if the Jazz could get the draft rights of Anzejs Pasecniks, Jonah Bolden or Matthias Lessort in this trade. Philly has so many young players and future draft picks that they may be willing to move a few.

Yes and everyone new BRI was going up significantly at that point... only questions were really about doing a smoothing measure or having it spike like it did.

Anyone that was blindsided by it and wasn't forecasting and planning around it was completely dumb. I remember fighting with people on this site that yes Gordon's contract looks bad but the cap going up makes it much more palatable in future years.

Hayward's agent sure as hell knew what was happening.

Stanley is not good and it makes me sad a little.

Did you have a name before HH?

I'd do that deal if the 76ers throw in Jonah Bolden.

76ers get- Rodney Hood, Joe Johnson
Jazz get- Jerryd Bayless, Furkan Korkmaz, draft rights to Jonah Bolden, 76ers 2018 1st Top 10-12 protected
