PEeop!e Overvalue jazz players on this board. Hood for Stsnley Johnson Straight Up the Pistons Would never bite onLet's play the hypothetical game here... let's say the Jazz trade Hood for Johnson. Exum's cap hold is 15mil... so what would it take to clear the space necessary to offer Jabari the max?

The rumor is that the Pistons want Hood and have been trying to get the Jazz to take Johnson. That's the Piston's offer, not something the Jazz would propose.
I agree with this - which is why I think the Jazz should try to make it more appealing to Orlando by being willing to take back Fournier and/or Biyambo. Give them a relatively clean slate cap wise, but lock up two starters that fit our timeline for at least 3 years. I’d be interested in seeing AG and Fournier as 2nd/3rd options with a deep bench behind them.I mean, this is Gordon's 4th year in the NBA and he is only a year older than Donovan. I think he is someone worth taking a risk on as the last piece. He has improved every year. He seems like a high character guy. I mean, he is flawed and inconsistent, but no 4th year player on a bad team (especially as young as Gordon) isnt. Anyone saying he isnt worth a max is crazy to me. He is someone you take the risk on.
I just dont think Orlando is really that serious about moving him.
I'd prefer us giving something along the lines of Favors and Hood for Canning Frye, Cedi Osman, and Cleveland's first round pick. With a little extra salary dump on Cleveland's side it works. We get a young project, a stretch 4, and an extra first round pick.I'd do this ----
** Jazz trade Favors and Hood.
** Jazz receive Shumpert and right to swap 2018 1st-rd picks with CLE's Brooklyn pick.
** Cavs and Jazz both place top-4 protections on their respective 1st-round picks.
** As of today, the Jazz's pick would be #11 or #12 and the Cavs' BK pick is #8.
Why for Jazz: They're not committed to paying Favors or Hood their market in free agency. Trade them out for a chance to move up into the top 8 of the 2018 draft (e.g., Porter, Jackson, Sexton).
Why for the Cavs: Get a 2-way big for the POs (especially to match up with Draymond), get a quality wing scorer who rebounds and defends adequately, keep bird rights on Favs and matching rights on Hood, move Shumpert's salary, and stay in the lottery of the 2018 draft. Without Favors or Hood, the Jazz would be expected to miss the playoffs and draft 10 - 12 (e.g., Bridges, Bridges, Carter, Knox).
So, bottom line, all the other deals out there suck.
The stench of missed opportunity I fear is going to gather over the next 12-18 months
These dudes don’t grow on trees.
We’re talking about a very specific deal that didn’t happen because of us, not them.Deals don't always happen just because one side wants them to, though.
Clearly we could have had him if we wanted to pay the priceDeals don't always happen just because one side wants them to, though.
Plan B is “for sure we’re drafting a stud at 15.”Clearly we could have had him if we wanted to pay the price
There better be a plan B.
