Well, I've finally bought a PS4 and a bunch of games all from Amazon and joined the current console generation. It's been a year since the console's release and the games are finally there, plus there were some pretty decent Black Friday deals.
First, I went ahead and got the PS4 bundled with Grand Theft Auto V and The Last of Us Remastered for $399. The funny thing is that I really care very little about either of those games. I really enjoyed GTAV on PS3, but have no strong urge to play it again, and my expectations for The Last of Us are low because the Uncharted games bored me. But hey, they're effectively free games, so I'll take them for a spin. Maybe I'll actually like The Last of Us as much as everyone else seems to, crazier things have happened.
I also bought:
-inFamous: Second Son ($20): I wouldn't have bought this one if it didn't have a steep discount, since I loved the first game but was underwhelmed by the second. I decided that for $20 I'd take the risk and hope I enjoy it.
-Assassin's Creed IV ($32): I never played this on PS3, figured I'd wait until I could get the next-gen version. Pretty sure I'm gonna like it, the ship combat stuff looked awesome.
-Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor ($30): I was a little skeptical when this game first came out, but it's been roundly praised by critics, and sounds right up my alley. A no-brainer for $30.
-Dynasty Warriors 8: Xtreme Legends ($45): I actually already own the original PS3 version, but this newer version fixes a lot of problems that I had with the original. Looking forward to putting in more hours with this one.
-Extra controller ($40): Hey, they were $20 off, and I may as well have a second one for local play or if my first controller breaks.
-2TB Seagate HDD ($110): Figure I may as well get a big-*** HDD now rather than worry about needing to possibly switch it out later.
I know that I'll eventually buy Dragon Age Inquisition, Far Cry 4, and Samurai Warriors 4, but they were all too new to be on sale, and since I have six other new games coming I figured I may as well wait for a price drop... or at least until I'm bored of everything else.
Considered getting Watch Dogs and Tomb Raider since both had pretty decent sale prices, but ultimately decided that Watch Dogs looks a little bit too much like the superior GTAV that I'm already kinda bored of, and Tomb Raider is too much on the rails like Uncharted. I'd probably pay $20 for Watch Dogs when it gets that low; Tomb Raider would probably have to either drop to about $10 or be given away as a free PS+ game for me to bother.
I have no interest whatsoever in Destiny.
Also looking forward to Q1 2015 for Dying Light (Jan. 27), Evolve (Feb. 10), The Witcher 3 (Feb. 24), and Bloodborne (Mar. 24).
Between waiting for delivery of everything, and being really busy organizing a conference taking place from Dec. 4-6, I probably won't get to mess with it much until the evening of the 6th. Looking forward to it. I think I'll probably import my old save from Dynasty Warriors 8 and play that a bit first, then move on to Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor.
