Vivint Arena Renovations

Correct. Unless there's a development agreement between both property owners.
Oh, thanks for the clarification. I thought you could probably just build a bridge from one building to another without letting anyone know about it.

I guess this could never possibly happen because no struggling mall owner in their right mind would want 20,000 people to have easy access to their property, and no arena owner could live with the idea of adding so many amenities and direct access to parking at a relatively low cost, right?

I think Gail should start giving speeches. "We're going to build a bridge, and we're going to make Gateway pay for it! They don't know it yet, but they will pay for it. That I promise you." And they would (assuming the owners have two brain cells they could rub together).

It seems pretty reasonable of them to include a rendering of each area that they are renovating, and it seems pretty obvious that some of those areas are going to be more exclusive than others.

But the vast majority of the conference and renderings were about the very exclusive suite and club portions, making the whole thing pretty unusable, unrelatable unimpressive for the majority of fans.

Are there areas of the arena you are interested in seeing that there wasn't a rendering of? As for the more exclusive areas, I didn't see anything that I couldn't relate to. I've got a living room myself. It just doesn't happen to be connected to an NBA arena. I think it's cool seeing one that does, even if I have to accept the fact that I might never own it.

I can't tell for sure but it looks like they are pulling the massive stairs on the NW corner back from the sidewalk and removing that planter. That would be a plus.

The upper bowl thing will be cool when my kid gets ****ty jr jazz tix.

overall it feels pretty meh for 100 million

The Delta Center was built at a cost of $93 million in 1991. It was constructed, because that was the only way Larry could figure out how to pay for the team after he had purchased the remaining 50% from Sam Battistone in 1986. He was a math wiz and had good instincts. It was pretty obvious he could not sell the Salt Palace seats for a high enough price to justify the price he just paid. He would need more seats to make it work. He got creative and worked out a public bond for $24 million of the original cost.

I have to buck the trend and say that for me this is a signal of the constant dedication Larry has shown for keeping the Jazz in Utah. I feel Gail has now taken a strong stance to continue to have the Jazz here for the foreseeable future.

I don't think you're bucking the trend. There are only a couple of posters making the claim that the Jazz aren't trying to win.

Just because you may not use the suites does not make what you say true. The majority of people in the suites are not the ultra rich, they are their employees, friends, and family. Suites are a HUGE HUGE HUGE part of the Jazz relationship with the community and more importantly the community leaders.

Most of the prominent Utah companies use suites at the jazz games to entertain clients and employees. I know a significant number of "average joes" who aren't big NBA fans and their only times attending games are in suites when they got tickets from their work.

Suites might not equal the amount of seats as the upper and lower bowel but it terms of revenue and signifiants they are on par.

I find it funny that they show renovations to damn near every single inch of the interior of the stadium and people are complaining because they spent 5 extra minutes talking about the new suites and clubs in detail. One reason they did it because the big sponsors and suite owners were IN ATTENDANCE of the press conference. How dare they focus on things that the people spendings $100,000 on tickets and millions on advertising care about instead of the average joe who attends 5 upper bowl games a year!!! They improved the game experience from the front row, to the back row, and significantly improved the top rows in my opinion.

So they didn't demand a new arena on the taxpayer dime or threaten to leave? That might be "unrelatable," but it sure isn't unimpressive. . .

Uh oh. Freudian slip? :)

Ha, oops.

Another point, how many casual fans actually watched that video or ever will? Not many.

I attend 2-4 games/year sometimes as a guest of Altius(with all the perks) and sometimes on my own dime and I am very excited about these upgrades. I also LOVE the new jumbotron. Do they even call them that anymore?

"Delta Center", "Jumbotron" and "Simulcast" are all still acceptable.
