Walker Kessler Should No Longer Play Until KO is Traded

It wouldn't shock me to see Dok average a double double if given around 30 minutes a game. He impressed me last year when he was forced into action and he finishes around the rim extremely well. His issue has been non stop ankle injuries since he was drafted. The question now is does he have that same explosiveness and athleticism after those injuries. Hopefully we end tank mode so that we can find out because he could still be a long term piece. Just because we didn't pick up his option doesn't mean that we can't bring him back.

He isn’t durable and never had the stamina to play for 30 minutes a night… effective backup is all that can reasonably be hoped for on Doke.

Lauri will be a free agent in '25 and Kessler is on the first year of a rookie contract.

Who cares? We have Lauri's bird rights and can pay him whatever it takes to keep him. The guy is blossoming into a star right before our eyes.

Maybe ..Will he be rushing to resign here to play with 40 yo Conley and Olynyk? Lauri has already publicly stated he wanted to play with Doncic.

Like I said, we can pay him more than anyone else. Also, we have more draft picks going forward than any team in the league besides maybe OKC. We can use the picks in trades to add talent, and the ones we keep, we can hopefully find good players in the draft. Ainge knows how to build a contender. I'm not at all worried about us not having enough talent to keep Lauri happy 3 years down the road when he becomes a free agent.

Actually it's getting closer to 2 1/2 years at this point. Yes I hope Ainge can add talent. He was great drafting Brown/Tatum as top 4 picks but let's be honest his drafting in Boston wasn't super impressive outside the high lottery.

So we pay Lauri. Boom, problem solved.

Kessler looked to me like he hit the wall tonight.
You could probably pick any player in the league, giannis steph jokic etc, and find a bad game from them though. Bad games happen to everyone. Kessler was really bad tonight. But that means very little.

It was effort tonight from him… looked like he took a bottle of melatonin or something. Wonder if he ate at Zupas.

He does have to figure out a floater from like 8 feet… when he tries to dunk and gets blocked and has zero chance of making it anywhere near the rim it’s just so cringy.

He got frustrated on a couple plays and clearly had a frustration foul after that. Got an offensive board to get it poked out of his hands, then missed a box out (not sure if it was him or a teammate).

He’s been so collected all season as you said, and there will be frustrating games for him. I love his play overall still

That's the main thing that gives me pause about his potential. And the play where he got blocked by Graham vs NOLA.

And the idea (according to Tony Jones) that he is viewed as the long term starting center ehhhhh. Hopefully it's just like a 20 mpg kind of thing where he starts but doesn't finish.

Then you watch him bank in FTs and it's like holy hell

He's going to be ok guys.

Jazz have only played 17 games but it's obvious he has a nice skill package of size, shot blocking, reverse dunks, smart play, and energy off the bench.

Is he a finished product at this point? No.

He's probably going to hit the wall a few times during his rookie season. I typically love his aggression but he probably will get frustrated a few more times like he did last night. Totally expected.
