Was the playoff still worth missing out on DLillard?

He had quite the showing in the Vegas league taking Co-MVP. Bradley Beal was at that one and other highly toted rookies. Is this the next mistake on KOC record that most are going to justify away?

If we'd missed the playoffs, we'd be getting the 12th - 13th pick, around that number. How does that net us the 6th pick which Portland used to take Lillard?

Having said that, if we'd gotten the 8th pick from GSW, we could probably trade the 8th pick + 12th pick for a 6th pick.

Wow, it would have been easier to package a deal to move up! Dang a GM must be the easiest job every you seem not to expect that much from the man.

Dang it, we missed out on LeBron, Dwane Wade and Carmello Anthony too. The Jazz should never win a game again, and that way in 15 years we'd have #1 picks for the whole team! Nothing could stop the Seattle Jazz!

HOU had multiple picks in the teens and were unable to trade up for something decent to exchange for Howard.

If you were a GM, would you give up the 6th pick for an 18th pick? May be if we have an All Star to give them together with that 12th pick, but we don't.

And just how were we going to get Lillard? Had the Jazz missed the playoffs (and tried to "tank"), they probably would have been slotted around #12. Doubtful they would have been as bad as Portland (28-38) which got the #11 pick, but could have finished with a worse record than Milwaukee (31-35). Houston would have made the playoffs instead of getting the last lottery slot.

Portland took Lillard at #6. That was the pick they got from the Nets via trade. Heck, let's even assume Utah tanked and moved into the #11 slot. So Utah would have had a choice of Meyers Leonard, Jeremy Lamb, Kendall Marshall, John Henson, Maurice Harkless, etc.

Was making the playoffs better than drafting Kendall Marshall? Guess we really need to see what he does this season.

And here comes the justifying. Thanks Hotnick for at least thinking out side of the tiny box some Jazz fans put themselves in.

Your title is misleading though.. you'd have to say:

1) missed the playoffs; and
2) get lucky with the lottery.

But the lottery we have no control over. So this seems to me to be a redundant thread.

No, but if we would have lost to GS then we would have had the 8th and the 18th. Hell sakes we could have tried to even get Perry Jones who dropped like a rock which would have shored up or big men and given us more of a chance to move Al or Millsap. Now, Thunder are in a win win if they can't resign Ibaka who we should've drafted over Kufos they have Jones to take his place at a cheaper price.

NO ONE was able to move up into the Top-10 of the draft. I guess that means every single GM is incompetent and needs to be fired.

But I have to complete you, KOCBegone. You are the most idiotic poster on the entire board, blinded by your hatred towards one man, who is actually regarded quite highly amongst his peers.

NO because technically we sealed our fate when we beat GS. Two picks in a deep draft would have been worth not getting our $%# handed to us in the first round. I think that GS now is capable of making the playoff next year. Why not they have a solid starting line up. And we are technically the same team that backed our way in last year.

If we would have lost to GS? Are you talking about the game on Apr 6th? Who's to say they wouldn't have lost their next game to Denver or given the Minnesota game away? And then you look at Toronto. They should have lost the game against Boston and then on the road at Atlanta. Had they dropped either. GS would have finished at #8 (or thrown away the Minnesota game to finish in a tie).

Coulda, woulda, shoulda. Perhaps.

I know one thing. I'll gladly take Marvin Williams over an inexperienced Harrison Barnes. It's debatable whether the #8 and #14 would have allowed us to move up top #5 (ahead of Portland to grab Lillard). If I were the Sacramento GM, I'd much rather have Robinson over Barnes and Henson. Despite all the talk, there were no trades involving top-10 picks. To me, that says GM's were pretty sold on who they eventually drafted.

Truly, you are the only one that contends with ncoloradojazz as the apex of slop-brained buffoons here.

Congrats.

I think that this board love KOC out of ignorance they won't hold him accountable when he makes mistakes and they love his moves. Until they don't pan out then they justify him again. In two years when Hayward is mediocre, Favors/Kanter still haven't developed or are to big of superstars to keep. There will be a big group that will praise his next move. Time will tell who is right. But, Portland has cap space and some great young talent. They got rid of their GM and brought in a new on who looks agressive good for them not settling.

I finally understand now why you've got zero rep power.

It takes great effort - well done.
