anyone else listening? Bill Oram said the Jazz are very actively looking to move up.

my question is...WHY? this is a draft that is deep with solid, but not great point guards and centers. you'd think the jazz would rather have multiple picks, even if it meant drafting two point guards.

thoughts...

I agree. Jazz need players this year.
They only have what 6 players under contract.
Doesn't seem like much to be gained by moving up.
Somebody at #14 and #21 might turn out to be as good as any in the top 13.
Hope they don't give up too much if they do move up.

Must have a player they are in love with and don't want to miss out on. Or, having that higher pick could help facilitate a sign and trade of Fat Albert or The Sap Man. Either way I'm stoked to here the Jazz are actually trying to do something. Last year was a waist.

I think it makes sense to take advantage of the cap space we have... why not?

If we can take on Marion's contract and swap our #21 with their #13 - why not do it? We need to make the min. salary anyway, plus we need players to fill the roster until next year.. this year's FA list isn't that great.

We strike out at the trade deadline - now it's time to cash in our chips.

ALL IN!!!!

Mavs will need to give up that pick for a second if someone is going to also pay marion. Look at clevelands haul from the grizz for taking on salary

If they're looking to move up, it has to be realistic and realistic is probably somewhere in between 8-13.
This is probably out of Burke range, but right inside McCollum range.
Sooooo McCollum?

If they can get #13 then it probably wouldn't be a bad idea to combine some picks and move up to get Oladipo or Burke (how many rookies does this team need all at the same time?).

Then they've got their eye on someone specific and they know that teams aren't going to be holding their picks as tightly this year as usual. That and the Jazz have the flexibility to make things happen so might as well at least test the market and see just how much we can make happen.

No. This is exactly the kind of draft where if we want to trade for a top 5 pick we should be able to.

I think they want McCollum. He's the best PG prospect that we could realistically get. Otherwise, yeah, Burke, Porter, Oladipo....but I'm doubting we'd get one of those players, unless we traded out one of our core 4.

The price to move up this year could be much cheaper than you think. Offloading a second rounder and some money could conceivably push you into the mid-lottery.

With the top being projected as not having a sure crop of great players, You might be able to bundle multiple picks to move up even into the top 3. More picks in a level draft give you better odds of finding a winner than one pick near the top. Plus you have to look at salary. top picks cost more and teams may not want to put as much money on someone that isnt a sure starter.

Makes 100% sense to move up. I have commented half a dozen times I seriously doubt we want two more rookes on this team. If we can't move up think we stash a pick with a Euro. Then if a second round pick works out that is an added bonus.

I swear, if the Jazz trade up and take McCollum they're gonna regret it when he's a ****ing bust and Schroeder is an all-star on the Bucks.

No... I'm not convinced he can get a 3pt shot off without doing a repeat of the NCAA tourney's Hail Mary's 3pt shots - those aren't going to always fall. 3pt shooting is one of his strength Burke's strength so to me that's a concern that it won't necessarily translate.

I'm convinced, however, that Schroeder's strength such as speed, quickness, getting to the rim, will translate.

So if I'm 50/50 on Burke vs Schroeder - why not take Schroeder and keep the other pick?

I'm not buying it. They were actively trying to move up but couldn't in the Hayward draft, they were actively trying to get into last years draft, and they were actively trying to make a move at the trade deadline.

Bazz they want Bazz!!

Think what the spurs did two years ago to grab Leonard!!

Looks like Lindsey has some one in mind...

It has to be Bazz!!

Well if the Jazz are moving up so they only have one rookie then they haven't changed a bit. Yea because leaving roster spots open for washed up vets has shown the way to build a playoff team. There is really no one that I am that excited about in this draft to give up two picks for one guy. Besides, I think the Jazz every year try to move up but most years it is tough to do. However, when you read that GMs are trying to move down why would you move up? There is a reason why GMs are trying to move down, because there isn't enough separation talent-wise to justify picking some of the top guys over mid-range guys. Is Burke really that much better than CJ or Schroeder?
