What's new

We got Atlantas PG!

Utah is under no pressure to dump Burke. Mack replaces Green.

3rd PG for the rest of the season, and his $2.43 million next year is non guaranteed, making him easy to package into a deal before or during the draft.

Played with Hayward in college and under Quin Snyder in Atlanta. Seems like an easy, no risk addition.

Since it sounds like Teague is off the table, I hope the Jazz look to package Burke in a deal that lands them George Hill. I've never been a huge fan of his, but I think he's the best option for our defense first mentality as a short term rental while Exum gets healthy. Wouldn't mind getting Lin either because I think he'd fit with what Quin does very well and actually enjoy playing for the Jazz.

That would be Linsane, we can do better than that..

I think this is a good move for depth and flexibility. I doubt the Jazz do anything else... My 2 cents.

When NAOS comes back from ban-tower he can let us know about Mack.

I know basically nothing about him. Not sure who else here watches Hawks games.

Hawks fans seem not too stoked about him leaving-- which is good. Looks like we're finally doing something with those 2nd rounders. I wonder which one we sent.

I like Mack, but his shooting is a concern. Not sure what it means for Trey, His dad has twittered and leaked the Trey Camp into a weak corner. Hope the best for Trey. He has not responded well to being second string, I don't know how he will respond to possibly being third string.

As a fan of the Jazz I'm hoping for the best.

Sad part is that last year we could have had him for nothing as he was in the DLeague. Sounds like he's a good guy off the court.

Trey's still second string. I would think.

If Utah trades Burke that makes them worse this season right? Burke is better than Mack.

The worst part about this deal, for me, is finding out someone named their kid Shelvin.

So now we can claim to not just have worst 2 PG combo in whole of NBA we can say we have three rotation of worst NBA PG? Typical DL big move.

DL is the king of get great players! In future maybe DL can just sleep through trade deaslines?
So which of the five: Hayward, Hood, Gobert, Exum or Favors do you want traded? Please propose a trade that makes sense for both teams, We know DL pursued Teague and the report was that Atlanta wanted Hood. Would you have done it? It takes two to tango as they say. You can't just be master of the ESPN Trade Machine, move players around and, VOILA! That's a trade that would have been available to DL.

Let's review some of the trades to date
1. Motiejunas and Thornton for Anthony and a top-8 protected pick. No thanks. Motiejunas is in his 4th season. Ok backup. But rather keep a 1st rounder and take a chance at getting someone MUCH better.
2. Tobias Harris - $16M for 4 years for a career 46%/32% shooter. We have Hayward, Hood and Burks. Rather have any of those over Harris.
3. Varejao and Cleveland's 1st (salary dump to Portland) - too bad we couldn't facilitate. Not quite enough cap space. That's the price we pay for having too good of a roster.

We lost a 2nd rounder on a role player. How does this hurt us at all?

Exactly. We needed PG depth. Also, if he IS good friends with Hayward, MAYBE it could play a small part in Gordon returning. Can't hurt. There was no way Jazz were going to draft 4 players this summer. No, not something to get thrilled about, but - barring another move - it shores up Utah's thinnest position.

Of the 5, I'd probably prefer to trade Hood, but he's still fairly untouchable in my eyes. You'd have to get back a really top-flight player in any deal that shipped him out. Jeff Teague does not qualify.

I LOVE this trade. I'm seriously sitting here laughing aloud at DL's awesomeness. Not only is Mack Hayward's buddy, but the guy can dish the ball. He's also a solid defender as well. And we got him for a 2nd round pick! This dude will seriously be useful. Love this trade.

WELCOME TO THE JAZZ, SHELVIN!

Just frustrates me to have some criticize a GM for not making a BIG trade. Hey, let's ship Burks and Booker and a 1st to Portland for Lillard. It works in the Trade Machine; therefore it MUST be something both teams would agree to, right?

I'm "meh" with this trade. But is Mack better than Green? Because Utah would have likely signed a PG for the remainder of the season. And it still doesn't prevent Jazz from swapping out Burke for another player. Also, Mack is supposedly a good guy off the court, has played with Gordon and under Quin.
