We should move on from George Hill

Let us not forget that Dalamon is the person who told us to draft Trey Burke. Let us not trust his opinion on the position of Point Guard.

If we can get Hill for less than $20, I would consider it. Anything more and I'm out. Yes, he is an asset. However, he was a liability this year.

Lets just look at this hypothetical. Imagine we got Teague instead of Hill. Teague played all 82 games this year. Hill missed over 30. With Teague, I bet we win 5 more games. With 5 more wins, we would have avoided GS until the conference finals. And we would have had Teague for the 1st and 2nd round.

Injuries matter. They matter a ton. We need to sign and keep reliable players. Burks, Favors and Hill are killing us.

Hill isnt injury prone...

And maybe we are worse with Teague. There is no way of knowing. Hill is undoubtedly the better player and he undoubtedly helped us get out of the first round.

Yup. The Jazz got a big 3 of Hayward/Gobert/Hill.

Hope someone better than Hill steps up from internal development (Exum/Hill/Lyles/New Draft Picks) so you can replace Hill down the line. Rinse/wash/repeat

You win championship with big 3 of Pierce Garnet Ray Allen or Wade, Lebron, Bosh.
Not Hill Hayward and Gobert. Thats at most big two and a half.

Funny thing is Hill and Hayward will either stay together or leave together. Thats what it seems. And we will have to overpay them. There is no way in the hell we are competing with GSW with this group. We can only hope both Curry and Durant gets injured next time we meet in playoffs.

Love DL and his vision for the team, but this + drafting Burke are his two big mistakes. If the Jazz had Hayward for two more years at under $20 million, there's an awful lot they could do to improve the team before these decisions had to be made. Plus, he'd have likely gotten the designated player extension after that deal. . . so it would have been 10 years of Gordon Hayward at lower costs than they'll pay to re-up him two years early.

Who drafted Burks? Him or KOC?
Even if Hood showed promise in his first year, drafting Lyles over Booker also could be counted as mistake.
Our lottery picks just sucked in the recent years, except Hayward.

I'm firmly against giving Hill anywhere near 20+ mil per year. He would be a great supporting cast member on a reasonable contract but he's clearly not that missing member of our potential big 3 needed to truly contend long-term & clearly seems determined to land the largest contract possible.

The real question is do you overpay him if it's the deciding factor in Hayward re-signing. Though hopefully that decision won't need to be made & Hayward will re-sign (or opt-in) on the promise of acquiring another marquee player to pair with him & Gobert.

Hill is better but not by that much. Especially if you consider how much time was missed.

Hill is the better player, and I'm glad we ended up with him instead of Teague.

With that said, I do wish we had him under contract for one more year kinda like Teague's deal, just so we had another full season to assess the long-term potential of Dante Exum.

For now, we kinda need to go after a PG/SG (Hill, Jrue) in the off-chance that Hood never explodes, and Dante can actually learn to play PG well.

Those are the two main PGs I have my eyes set on, other than Chris Paul of course. I dont want Lowry.

I think Philly could equally drop a payday on George Hill too. They know they need a heady vet.

I really dont like the idea of four years of George Hill, you guys. It doesn't really sit right in my head. Especially with the amount of money we'd need to commit.

Just did some quick research.

Jazz we're 33-16 when Hill played. That is a 55.2 win pace.

Jazz we're 18-15 when Hill didn't play. That is a 44.7 win pace.

55 wins puts us at the 3rd seed and we'd be playing San Antonio right now and meeting Golden State in the WCF.

Hill isn't injury prone either. Before this season he played 550 out of a possible 656 games. That's nearly 84%.

If anything we might be able to re-sign him cheaper than what we might have because of his injuries.
