What's new

We signed Jeff Green

He's shot the **** out of the ball the last two years. Beefy wing forward. Super cheap... he's our LeBron stopper... okay more like speed bump.

One thing I have to admit to... I've said before if Jeff Green is the answer you probably asked the wrong question. So I'm not like over the moon here.

Another note... not sure if his vet min is 2.5 or if we used some of the money we saved on Neto to give him a slight bump in pay.
It's the vet minimum for his advanced age.

This is a good signing. If we need a bigger F to match up he gives us the size. Otherwise Bojan and Niang should eat up all the minutes. Also a bridge until Brantley is ready. Jarrell showed some promise in his rookie debut, but I think he's a year away from rotation minutes. Put him on the roster, let him season in the GLeague with Oni and JWF.

Green actually played heavy mins last year, averaging 27/per and shot 35% on his 3's. He'll probably get some DNP's but is a decent addition. You need guys like this (just like Thabo and Udoh filled limited duty roles for the Jazz).

what i like about him is that his physical conditions didn't seem do have declined one bit. still bouncy quick, and only missed about 20 games in his last three seasons. not some wash-up end-of-bench locker room presence typa vet such as Thabo, Diaw or Udoh that DL loved getting. we can actually count on JG to play heavy minutes in the rotation.

Not a horrible pickup? But I.got some beef with it if he’s starting. First how is he any different than Crowder, maybe more athletic, but he’s a streak shooter just like Crowder. Other than last year 34%. Not bad but not great. He hasn’t shot better than 32% the five years prior to last year. I would be fine with him coming off the bench, don’t want him anywhere near the starting lineup.
That's irrelevant because apparently we had to trade Crowder to get Conley.

This offseason is just proving how easy it actually is to make moves if you want to. The Jazz have made that tired old excuse for too long.

Im liking Zanik for the simple fact he doesnt play around and is actually trying something.

DL is in the middle of this. The Zanik promotion is not why this is happening but nice to have both of them in our FO.

I dunno.

I think the professional thing to do would be to allow Zanik to build his own team.

I know the Jazz say they do it as a group but there is no denying this feels so much different any other year.

I’m fairly lukewarm toward Green, but we need to look at the comparison of what he’s replacing — he’s replacing Favors playing the 4 in the starting lineup. Favors was effective as the backup center but his value was negated by duplication with Gobert. Green’s shooting is fairly inconsistent but it’s like Jae’s numbers, and Jae provided a lot more spacing compared to Favors. However people want to argue about who is better between Jae and Derrick, we were better with Jae’s fit. So El Jefé gets Derricks first and third quarter minutes plus some other spot minutes and Ed Davis gets Derrick’s backup center minutes. So I think we did pretty good. Green is/should be relegated to catch and shoot only.
