From my understanding the trans thing is simply viewed as "icky" by many many Americans, so just knowing they exist and having it "thrown in their faces", mostly by reading about it in the news or on facebook or whatever, is enough to claim that trans rights are being elevated above the rights of the "middle class". Things like shared bathrooms, non-gender-specific pronouns, schools implementing policies regarding trans people, regardless of the intent, all that is infringing on their right to not feel "icky" about stuff. And it is enough for them to dehumanize trans people so they feel ok about openly discriminating against them. That is about the extent of it. I am interested to hear what huge has to say.
