What do Jazzfanz do professionally (...assuming they have jobs) ?

Going on? ... Watch the movies I referenced (you can access them online) and read The China Study -- they say a lot more and with great detail in support of my comment.

- your blue cross insurance "argument" is an amusing one, because tens of other developed nations have naturopathy, homeopathy and other alternative therapies nearly COMPLETELY covered under healthcare (mine-included). Nice try though.

One of the few benefits of having private health insurance is that the is more incentive to watch the bottom line. Germany wants their insurerrs cover woo, and since the German govenment pays the premiums, it gets the service it wants. I do want the US to go to more universal, lessprivate incurance, and accepting the influx of more woo will be an unfortunate side-effect.

- your blanket statement about testimonials is again, awfully naive. My uncle was told to have his arm amputated, and undergo three rounds of chemo, ontop of radiation. He said no to it all, and went to a naturopath instead. 2 years later, he had his oncologist announce him as a "medical-miracle" who's cancer completely subsided. Dont make such general assumptions on testimonials.

For every man like your uncle, 99 of them get buried. For some reason, the people who die don't make testimonials. Your accusation of naive is pretty funny, though.

If you want a real education in the practice of natruopathy and other forms of woo, I sufggest starting with the blogs Science-Based medicine and Respectful Insolence.

One Brow, you're a smart guy, but sometimes you take on subjects that you know little about.

Well, if any MDs show up in here and want to take over the discussion, I will happily cede the field.

Your comment smacks of the stereotypical response of those in the pharmaceutical industry, who in my opinion are glorified drug pushers. There are many naturopathic remedies that work and in fact many MDs who are now using them under the umbrella of complementary and supplementary treatment, for fear that the FDA will close them down if they state otherwise. As it is, no insurance carriers will approve naturopathy because of the FDA, and that's because the FDA is controlled by Big Pharma. Why don't you watch a movie, like Cancer: the Forbidden Cures, which documents the history of the suppression of naturopathic and other alternative cancer treatments by the FDA. There also has also been a systematic sabotaging of clinical trials of promising alternative cures for cancer by the FDA -- see Burzynski, the Movie. I could go on further, but I've said enough.

And sure all MDs believe in good nutrition; the problem is that most of them don't know anything about it -- Read The China Study by Campbell.

Yes, the pharmeceutical industry does love to brag about all the rigorous testing they do and all the eviden ce they have to provide for the effectiveness of their medications before they can even be brought to market.

The FDA suppresses very few naturalpathc drugs. It just requires them to only make claims that they can provide evidence for, or claims that have no medical meaning if they can provide no evidence for a medical benefit. That's why so many products "boost the immune system" or "give extra energy"; those are medically meaningless claims that I could make for distilled water.

Burzynski is a fraud and a charlatan, who takes money from wealthy people and provides no medically valuable treatments.

Health insurers don't pay for supplements because supplements don't work, period. Health insurers are big pockets with huge lobbying efforts. If they wanted the FDA to back off of naturopaths, the FDA would have backed off of them.

You have said enough, though. We can agreee on that.
