Yes I second that.
For your information, JBradshaw, we covered this topic to death starting with D-Will's interview with David Locke mentioning that he no longer lives in Salt Lake in Summer (just search for it in the forum). Then there was the Dime magazine piece which was badly written by an intern suggesting that D-Will will leave in 2 years to join Dallas. Then David Locke's rebuttal letter to the Dime Magazine piece clearing up a lot of nonsense (i.e., D-Will bought a summer home in a non-NBA city and has no property in Dallas). It's all there in the forum you just have to search for it.
Essentially my own conclusion was that a lot of things has to happen in 2 years. In my estimation we have a good chance of making a deep playoff run this year given the new legit talent in Al Jefferson. Phoenix and Denver have also gotten worse. Also in the year after that Phil Jackson will retired - and that will be the end of the Lakers Dynasty in my mind. Jazz's current roster is young and improving with D-Will, Jefferson, Millsap, Miles and Hayward as the core and will only get better. There is a good chance that we will become a good team for a long time and D-Will will decide to stay.
Also other factors to consider include:
- the new collective bargaining agreement which may introduce the new "Franchise Player" rule
- Possible introduction of a "hard cap" preventing teams like Dallas and Lakers to spend as much as they want
- Emergence of Gordon Hayward which I think will become a very special player
GlassEater is right - if D-Will decide to leave - we'll just simply go out and find another PG. Imagine $35m coming off the books for Kirilenko and D-Will combined and imagine who we could get for that kind of money especially when the new terms of the CBA come into effect.
There are too many factors to consider and to be worried about. Just enjoy the season and hope for the best.
