Lebron has a big choice to make as far as what team he joins next. He has made it clear that he is going after a max contract. There are 7 teams that can offer that without making a single move and the Jazz are one of those teams. I know that Lebron would never consider Utah as a destination, but why not? If Lebron is looking to separate himself from the past superstars (Jordan, Bryant) and do something that none have them ever thought of, then joining the Jazz isn't that bad of a situation. (Not saying Lebron would ever be considered better than Jordan) We are so quick to exclude ourselves from the teams that Lebron could end up signing with, but realistically, we are one of the ones he should consider. We have the money to offer him a max contact and joining a team like the Jazz (new coach, new ideas) I'm sure that the Jazz would take immediate action to build the team around him starting from the day he signs a contract. He wouldn't have to wait for multiple years for a team to build around him.

Currently, seven teams have the cap space to offer James a deal starting at $20.7 million next season: the Heat, Dallas Mavericks, Los Angeles Lakers, Phoenix Suns, Utah Jazz, Philadelphia 76ers and Orlando Magic.

I think that it would be stupid of the Jazz to just count themselves out because we are the Utah Jazz. If your Lebron and you want to do something out of the ordinary to prove yourself worthy of guys like Michael Jordan, Wilt Chamberlain, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. Then do something none of them did. Win an MVP with 3 teams and make that 3rd team a team that no one would anticipate you going to, and make them a champion.

I tip my hat to you for having the balls and brains to spell out some truth. I myself would usually provide some half-wit remark to such a post but in this instance, I'm going to hold back and semi-agree with what you said.

However, ignoring the background factors like nightlife, demographic and so forth, one big thing is still missing here in Utah to attract Lebron imo and that is another star. Yes, Bosh and even moreso, Wade, are shells of their past selves but they are still better than anything we have. Who is there to take that pressure off of Lebron? At this moment, nobody. Now if we somehow got someone like Rondo then yeah, maybe we'd have a chance but as of now, we have no shot. Lebron's not here to watch a team grow. He wants to win now and would need such a piece.

But who (realistically) could we get that is a star? If the Jazz had the ability to land a star I would S&T Hayward almost instantly

Not at the max or even too close to it I don't think. Between Favors newer deal and a bunch of high picks (Kanter, Exum, Burke), we're probably already around 25M. And that doesn't include Burks or anyone else.
 
I'm sure Lebron wants to face the Spurs, Thunder, GS, and Portland in the playoffs every year instead of uh um Lance Stephenson....
 
I've come around to really like Lebron based on the fact that he is such a people-person and so great with his kids. I think L.A. would be perfect for him from a lifestyle standpoint since he absolutely loves the limelight. But if he wants another title he should go to Cleveland and finish a cinderella story.

I think it would do more for his legacy if he took a team like the Cavs, Bucks, Jazz or Suns to the finals and won than it would a team like the Heat, Celtics, Lakers or Rockets.
 
The Jazz are in a lot better position than most of the NBA to capture Lebron. We have young talent, size and speed, and cap flexibility.

Cleveland doesn't have any bigs. Their one decent player, Irying, is constantly injured and wants to leave anyway.

LA, Chicago, NY, and most big city markets are complete messes right now.

So what's the major problem?

The Jazz are located in the smallest market, in the driest state, and with the weirdest history, and strangest culture. Outside of SLC, our state is weird to the rest of the world. Sorry. It's true.

And as much as LBJ might like to hike, ski, or fish, I just don't see the biggest African American athlete in recent history dying to bring his talents to our state. Especially in a state that would probably ID him if he ever wanted to buy booze. ID Lebron James...

Could you imagine his reaction?

Well... At least we have better salt water taffy than South Beach, right?
 
Just think of all of the bandwagon, Johnny-come-lately fans that could continue their allegiance to Lebron but actually support their home team. I want to flog every one of the pansy-*** people who support the Heat at a Jazz game. :)

Laker fans at Jazz games are by far the greater scourge. Like comparing the flu to cancer.
 
If I were DL, I would send Lebron a video to try to get him to come to Utah. The video would be filled with clips of Michael Jordan and quotes of how he is the greatest. Have people clearly state MJ>Lebron. Make it clear that Lebron will never surpass Jordan if he continues to flock towards teams with superstars. Let go of the crutch. Legacy is greater than chasing championships. Going to Utah, which has talent but no other stars would set Lebron apart. Make Utah a dynasty and he can secure is place in NBA history as the greatest of all time.

I doubt it would work, but stroke his ego, and make it insultingly clear that by staying with Miami he will do nothing but tarnish his legacy.
 
Newsflash: Lebron is staying with Miami. I'm not going to bother posting the numbers, but a MAX contract in Miami is worth >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>$ than a MAX contract anywhere less. Lebron demanded Miami draft Napier. They did. He demanded concessions from Wade and Bosh; he's getting those.
