It's not just pretentious BS to pour beer into a glass. That beer in particular is VERY malty and has a caramel smell to it. Drinking it from the can denies you that smell and smell plays a huge role in how things taste.
I've also found that beers that have any roasted malts emphasize the bitter or even metallic flavors of the roasted malts when they are served too cold. If it warms up a bit, into the mid 40s, the sweeter, smoother flavors start to balance things out.
I didn't really buy into all this stuff so much until I did actual taste tests of the same beer at different temps, in different glass shapes, after eating various things.
One thing I know is that the way beer tastes is partly based on what's in the beer but also varies greatly based on a lot of other things.
I was pretty sure you were going to like it because you like Evolution. They're somewhat similar imho.
