Gin? Ugh. Water? Ugh. Combined? I've heard of worse but not by much.
 
So I might have missed it, but what was your impression of the moose drool UGLI? It's been a goto liquor store beer for me since I first tried it.

I honestly thought it sucked.

Like, not suck sucked, but sucked for a beer that is supposed to be good.

Did I for sure get the same thing? In a can right?

Yeah, I've only ever had it out of a can. You did pour it into a glass, right?

Maybe it was a case of something being built up way too much and not meeting the inflated expectations.

Probly a little of all of these things.

I drank it straight from the can, and I was expecting an awesome beer.

It just had a tinge of weird taste to it. Something a little off.

Maybe it was drinking it straight from the can that gave it that.

It's not just pretentious BS to pour beer into a glass. That beer in particular is VERY malty and has a caramel smell to it. Drinking it from the can denies you that smell and smell plays a huge role in how things taste.

I've also found that beers that have any roasted malts emphasize the bitter or even metallic flavors of the roasted malts when they are served too cold. If it warms up a bit, into the mid 40s, the sweeter, smoother flavors start to balance things out.

I didn't really buy into all this stuff so much until I did actual taste tests of the same beer at different temps, in different glass shapes, after eating various things.

One thing I know is that the way beer tastes is partly based on what's in the beer but also varies greatly based on a lot of other things.

I was pretty sure you were going to like it because you like Evolution. They're somewhat similar imho.

I don't drink any beer straight from the can or bottle. I think it tastes infinitely better poured into a glass and glasses aren't hard to come by so why the hell not do it.
 
I'll be honest, when I drank the Moose Drool all of my glasses were dirty and I didnt want to wash one of them haha.

If I drink a real beer (not bud light etc) I usually pour it in a glass.

I will give Moose Drool another try in a glass this time.

Well, with all the hoopla I'm guessing it'll never seem worth all the trouble.
 
I had a hops rising at huka bar the other night

Liked it better than devastator.
