What's new

What you sippin on?

Lagunitas is legit.
Water is way overrated.

In fairness to alcohol, I've done lots of dumb **** sober too.

I love grapes, grew up in a grapevine patch in the desert. They get ripe, then riper. If you store them in the crisper it gets tempting to drink the rinse water, if you leave them in the sun you get raisins with a buzz.

My great-grandpas included a wine-maker and a pub proprietor, and my dad kept beer in the fridge, probably for educational purposes. As a chemist I studied yeast and did some basic evaluations of distillation techniques, and even did research on yeast for several years on a government grant. . . . it was politically unproductive though because it demonstrated that living things develop resistance to toxic heavy metals because they start producing lots of stuff that will sequester the heavy metals and enable the host organism to excrete them. . . .

But I decided just not to drink ethanol because I have all the signs of a born addict to begin with. I can't even stop myself from eating Doritos, or Smarties, or whatever is within reach. The only way I can keep my health is by working without munchies in sight. . . .

To be fair to alcohol, I've done more dumb ^^^^ (whatever PKM typed above) than any three of you young turks.

I don't drink water much, except in hot weather. . . ..

I do drink about a gallon of milk a day, though. . . .

Was in a freakin' wild 90 mph rollover. . .. my hand was smashed on the steering wheel by a 120# Chow Chow with his collar caught on the rear view mirror. Fun time having the glass dug out of that hand. ( They didn't get it all. Three years later some glass worked it's way to surface. . . .) Doctor commented on my bones being about age 20. . . .nothing broken.

We hit the Duty Free pretty hard on the way home from Cancun this summer and I have spent many nights enjoying Don Julio's finest.

That's quite an introspection regarding your addictive tendencies. Most people don't ever come to the personal conclusion that they're predisposed to addiction. Was this personal revelation something that you figured out when you were young or at more of an advanced age?

In regards to milk. ****. I havent had a glass of milk since I was still living at home...close to 20 years ago.

I'm a water drinker. Love water. Can't believe so many people don't drink plain water.

Coffee in the morning

Water throughout the day

Beer in the evening

I was probably 8 years old the last time someone forced me to drink milk. Yuck!

I had an internal bleeding issue a few years ago that almost killed me and was told to drink more water so I drink about 150 oz. of water a day.

You sound like a solid individual who has his priorities straight. Are you specific to what kind of coffee? I didn't drink coffee for most of my adult life and then decided to start a couple of years ago. This coincided with a good friend of mine becoming a local roaster. So I buy directly from him. I grind and brew most mornings...usually before a bike ride. I drink it black as good coffee should be drank. Im thankful I started drinking coffee.

@ Greg85:

For some cheap but incredibly smooth T, try Jimador. I don't think it would be hard to get in that alcohol impaired state you line in.

Take care of yourself. Your health is ultimately all you have. It will always catch up to you.

I used to drink regular old folgers but I've been buying whole-bean coffee and grinding it just before making the coffee. Hard to go back. Don't have a clear-cut favorite but I've been trying Costco's selection of whole bean coffee and some are okay. But yeah, black. Only way to drink coffee in my opinion. I don't got time or the spare calories in my diet for any BS in my coffee.

Hopefully you're brewing with a Chemex/ Aeropress setup or something similar. If not, do the research and get on board. Throw the french press away and get your coffee on.

Well...I'm not. But my homebrew store guy is into coffee and sells some green bean coffees and has supplies and stuff so I'll get with him and get something along those lines. Been wanting to try it that way for a while.

Right now I use a Bunn Phase Brew coffee maker.

Step away from that Bunn immediately. Please. You know the particulars with brewing beer, so I know you can appreciate the change in brewing method with coffee. Start here:

Let me know if you have any questions. Also, if time in regards to brewing is a concern, it shouldn't be. It takes very little time to brew a good cup of coffee using one of the aforementioned "devices." If anything it probably takes less time and the clean up in much easier. I will never go back to a drip machine. There's no need to.

****ing pretentious coffee snobs. Get a kettle, a stove, a cup, and a spoon. Enjoy.

For whatever reason, you sound threatened. No one here is poo poo'ing your method of brewing. I'm definitely not. I've got a kettle, a stove and a cup too. I just add one more component. You do you and I'll do me. If that bothers you, I'd advise you to get over yourself.
