Where will Jefferson stand in All Star voting this season?

I guess that the OP meant being selected to the All-Star Team. Not actually voted in. There is no way in hell AJ gets voted in. I don't know where exactly he placed last year in terms of actual votes; but it wasn't even in the Top 6.

Maybe I have a poor understanding of the selection process. My thought was he's either on the team or not. In as an alternate would count right? Anyways the most productive guy on a top 5 team just about has to make the squad. Especially an improved Al could have pretty ridiculous stats. Inject 2.5 FTs 1.5 AST 1 RB and he has top flight #s. Seems like a case would be made.

Not sure who you're arguing with, as I never said any of that ********. Try again.

Right. It's more like get rid of Jefferson so the Jazz can play a brand of ball that's personally entertaining to you, then worry about a winning plan later on. That **** is Golden State 101. Or Maloof Bros. Take a pick.

BTW, half-wit was the best part of your response. Why'd you take it out?

Is this the thread you're talking about, frank?
Gvc has this nailed down. Nothing to add.

As usual. So I will:

Remember this for when the professionals offer Jeffy a solid 4 year deal.

Romney has you trollin (almost autocorrected to "tripping") pretty hard these days.

I've never said they won't offer him a deal. I've said they shouldn't. Questions? Remember when I made a list of changes that would make Al ok with me? Well, early offense is a good sign. But, then Kanter shows up ready to ball and minutes get tighter. Al should go.

Didn't say that either. I've been over what I think about Jefferson, and what I think he'd have to do to contribute to a contender. Perhaps you haven't noticed, but I've been going to bat for him regularly the last couple months as well (half-baked nbanerd analysis weakens my position considerably). Based on his offensive style/skill-set and his defensive inadequacies, I don't see him being a starter on a contender. He looks terrible trying to facilitate from the high post so far this preseason. I imagine that experiment will be aborted by the start of the regular season. I'd be ok re-signing Al at a below market value contract to play 26-ish minutes off the bench (although I'd rather have Millsap).

Trying to be nicer.

Kanter showing up these past few weeks must have been a kick to Trollklin's balls.

All due respect.

Never said you did.

I've noticed the team starting to get into offensive sets and run plays before Tinsley gets across half court. He threw a pass to someone running off a screen when he was 10 feet off the 3 point arc. It was nice to seem a team execute competently.

They've also been way less Jeff-centric the past couple of games and have way more options with Mo, Marvin, & Foye veteran experience, & Hayward's growth. Yet they still have that low post threat, something that is not very viable with Kanter, Favors, or Millsap.

I generally try to avoid discussions involving nerd as the main pusher, so yeah, I missed it.

A couple of things. I can't get over the fact that Millsap can go anywhere he wants & if I were him I would sign where I would be the starter without question. That won't be the case here with Kanter nipping at his heels. I also can't bet on Kanter improving to the point he doesn't look lost & sheds his spastic post offensive play. Losing both Sap and Jefferson--especially for nothing--would be 10 steps in reverse outside the off chance Favors and Kanter develop in leaps they have not shown capable of taking thus far.

Also, Jefferson at 26 still leaves 68 minutes to split. Favors at 32 (not sure he's ready for 34-36, or able to stay out of foul trouble that long), and Sap at 26 would be ideal for me. Leave Kanter 12 minutes and make him earn more time from Sap & Jefferson, while being obviously open to the league on trading Sap, Jeff, or Kanter.

Now isn't this rich. Hey, did you also hear Millsap grew 3 inches and now has a PnR game better than even Boozer?

Another quick point. Jazz are looking pretty deep at the 2 & 3 as well, especially with Mo Williams able to slide to the 2. Being able to trade a big + Marvin/Hayward/Foye/Burks + GSW pick could get pretty damn tempting for someone looking to hit rebuild mode or looking to trade promising rookies for a chance today.

Agreed.

Al will be Watching the all star game on TV this year, just like the year before and the year before.... It seems Good AND fun to watch players only go to the allstar game. And Al just dosent meet those qualifications.

Ahem. I know you know the CBA won't allow the Jazz to re-sign Millsap to fair value while it doesn't put the same limit on Jefferson due to his current contract size. I think it's complete b.s. Jazz can't extend Millsap right now, but my emotions don't change the position we're looking at as fans.

Injury risk is enough to entice Jefferson to re-sign. That and not changing teams again is good motivation for Al to stay. Hell, the Jazz may even get him for less than market value for those two reasons alone.

It took some time and thought, but I have it figured out.

Jefferson will just miss the Allstar game, but will still be happy because he will have lost out to Kanter. Kanter will be averaging 20/20 2 blocks, 1 steal, 1 assist and will be the recipient of all "that man" comments from now on.

Wait...You think the Jazz are going to extend Jefferson? Are there any reports that they're even discussing an extension? Or do you think the Jazz will be restricted in what they can offer Millsap next summer?

I think going to FA is a huge gamble. I've said nothing other than the Jazz should extend Jefferson. Let's try this: what strategy do you prefer at this point? I don't see "trade Jeffy gamble on Millsap re-signing" as a viable option.

I prefer the "wait until we're near the trade deadline" strategy. If Jeff can be signed for <$10mm per (he can't), I'd look at extending. I don't see going to FA as a huge gamble; the Jazz can offer more to Jefferson and/or Millsap than anyone else. I imagine their respective agents have a pretty good idea what their market value will be next offseason.

To be fair, this goes (at least a little) against what I often say about getting max value out of current assets. If the Jazz can extend Al for $12mm per, could he be "dumped" on another team at that number?
