What's new

Who are the Dems going to run in 2020?

So you are ok with varying levels of dishonesty?

Ever human is ok with varying levels of dishonesty. All humans lie and deceive throughout their entire lives. You and I pick arbitrary points of tipping in regards to how we feel about the people around us and their honesty.

I think I've been pretty clear that I don't consider Hillary Clinton any kind of saint. What I've argued against is that she is a special kind of crooked. I think she's run-of-the-mill crooked. But people act like there has never been anything like her. That's laughably dumb in my opinion.

Again, I'm not saying Hillary has never lied, has never flip-flopped, but I don't think she's anything close to a special case in that regard.

Before election season when it seemed like it was going to be a race between Jeb Bush and Hillary Clinton I was disappointed because I didn't like what looked like a trend in trading the White House between a few political dynasties. I wanted pretty much anyone but those two for that reason alone... Then Donald Trump started doing a pretty good Mussolini impersonation and people started buying into it. I was horrified. But there was nothing but hot trash being offered up on the Republican side anyway. I would have voted for Hillary over Cruz or Bush. I would have had to get to know Rubio better before making that decision. I might have voted for him over Clinton.

Ability to lie is a good indicator of leadership skills. Look it up.

Log, politicians lie pretty much every time they open their mouth. I've already said I think that's a bad thing. You want mt to put it in all caps bolded or something?

I, GAMEFACE, CONSIDER LYING TO BE A BAD THING...EVEN WHEN HILLARY CLINTON DOES IT!

The difference is that Hillary does it more than any politician.

We are now living in the Youtube era. No longer will politicians get away with as much lying as they do. Hillary is finding that out first hand.

How many times is that now where you have stormed off in a fit a rage?

Cry me a river.
OK. You want to say in all seriousness that Clinton lied more than any other politician ever?

Please support your assertion and I'll continue taking about it.

Good luck!

Oh ya. The people just love being lied to repeatedly.
It's not a good thing at all. But it's true that leaders trend to be good liers. Like I said, look it up. Studies have been done.
I'm not happy that that's true.

The problem is that Trump was the one who has lied more than any politician ever. Mkat fact checking sites say Hillary and Obama lie less than most politicians. So it's the opposite of your assertion.

There are about 5-10 major organizations that do truth checking. Some of them seem good, some lean left, some lean right. They all agreed on this.

Frankly I believe that Democrats tell the truth more often because their constituents hold them more accountable for that than do Republicans. I am not saying all of either side do this but as a whole democrats have more people who take the time to see if what their candidate is saying is true or not where more Republicans have an emotional response and care more if it fits into what they believe.

Also yes she is a liar but so am I and so are you. Humans lie at a very high rate. Does she lie more than other candidates are politicians? I do not see evidence of that but that is hard to prove and an opinion for the most part. The only things we can prove is that she was more honest than others. Republicans and Trump did a good job of pushing a liar label at her early and often and beating points of that where they could prove that she lied enough that people felt she was a liar, which is an arbitrary label. It was said enough times that everything she said people could pass off as a lie without giving it a second thought if they did not like her.

What?

You must have missed the last few years when the GOP was getting primaried from the right. You can disagree with conservatives, you can think that they are stupid, but it is pretty clear to me that they hold their candidates more accountable than do liberal voters. I can't even think of the last time an incumbent Dem lost a primary.

Also on the fact check thing they check for factual statements(they also pick what they are going to check). Making a statement that is crazy isn't necessarily lying. More often than not it's just wrong. I hope to god that Trump is as much of a liar as some of you all are saying he is. If he's not... we're in some srs ****in trouble.

I do not think they are all dumb I also dont disagree with them that much. I prefer most of Republican view points, especially the classic ones. I only do not agree with them on social issues like Womens rights and gay rights. I voted Republican for a few positions this year and have every election.

That is my opinion and my explanation for why Republican candidate in the last 10 elections has lied more than the Democrat candidate has based on major fact check groups. I dont have proof of that just what I see and hear which is anecdotal but really has no way to prove. What would be your explanation?

They dont arbitrarily pick what they fact check. They pick everything that can be proven true or false. There are plenty of statements that cannot be proven one way or the other. I feel it gives a good view of how they address issues but I can see if you simply believe that they lie when it can be proven and tell the truth when it cannot be.

No they don't. Politifact for instance doesn't even rate everything as true or false. Most of their ratings are given a half true rating.

Again they can't tell you if a person is lying anyway. Only whether they are wrong a lot or not. This is why you don't understand what Trump supporters are saying to you. Based on Trump's First 100 days memo it seems that they were right. It doesn't look like he's a liar. He's wrong about a lot of **** but it looks like he was pretty honest about what he was gunna do.

It's a shame you can't vote for one person/party for social issues, and another person/party for everything else. Or even take it further, and be able to vote for individual positions rather than people.

Just kidding, that would obviously give the people far too much power.

That is true, some put them into categories but even if you go off of pure lies with no shred of truth the numbers are the same. I am aware Trump supporters feel disenfranchised. I like some of the stuff from his 100 day memo. So far how is he doing at those things? What type of people is he putting into his cabinet? Are they people that are going to restore honesty, accountability and Change? Giuliani, Ben Carson, Palin... I guess we will see. He has made a lot of promises and made even more in his 100 day plan. I guess we can look back after 100 days in office and see what he has done. I hope he gets the first part done and fails miserably on building a wall and forcing Mexico to pay for it, I also hope he doesnt remove all of the positive executive orders Obama has done. I dont think releasing a memo of things you want to do makes you honest or dishonest, he has made some big promises and we will see what happens.

I was hoping the libertarian party would become a real party with solid ideas. They have taken in both conservatives and liberals and have more of a hands off approach. Unfortunately they are not very well unified and have some far out ideas. They are also filled with the crazies of this country. Their convention is entertaining but is hard to take serious. Green party has a few nice ideas but they also dont seem interested in really getting candidates to win just to make people more aware of pollution and other green issues.

I really just hope that another party emerges that is fiscally conservative and socially liberal or really anything more moderate or Republicans drop some of their social conservative issues and focus on other parts of their platform but that is unlikely while it is a party controlled by Christians that feel their moral values are the most important part.
