Who are the Glue Guys for this team?

I was having a debate with a Co-Worker a few moments ago about the 'glue' guys of this team. Some call them Veterans but I don't believe that is true as there are many Veterans that are against the grain as well, just as in business.

For the Jazz this year, without a doubt I see the glue guys as Booker and Ingles. These are two players (Especially Ingles) who I see as leaders, mature, and the guys that probably pull the team together.
His response was this is Hayward and Favors team and they are the guys that hold and direct the team.

Which brought us to the next question about next year. Are Booker and Ingles back with us next year and if not, is it now Hayward and Favors team and can then hold the team together in the locker room, in timeouts, on the court. I am fans of both but I don't see this being either of their strong suits so having a Booker and Ingles on the roster getting 10-15 minutes a night next year or for the next few years may be a positive thing.

This is probably Haywards biggest problem. He tries to keep everyone involved, and get's frustrated when he can't(see; last year)

It's so very difficult to be the glue, and the designated player.

Ingles is THE glue guy

He better be back next year

He is hilarious too. Recently he made 4 threes in a game and it was bought up in a post game interview. He responded "I'm the best shooter in the nba"

Asked who he would want to be stranded on a deserted island with of anyone on the jazz.... He said exum because he could make dante do what he wants and if it came down to it, he could kill dante and eat him.
Dude is awesome

Without question its Jingles without a close second, but Rudy is underrated with how he brings the team together too.

Rudy, Favors and soon to be Exum.

Another reason why this core is so exciting.

IF Exum's pans out, we will win titles. Everything else is just too perfect.

This. I consider Mark Jackson the most divisive person to ever play for the Jazz. He was a 15 year vet.

Booker, Ingles, and Rudy are my list.

Definitely isn't Jingles. Maybe from a locker-room perspective, sure, but not on the court.

Booker is more of the energy guy.

When I think glue guy, I think a dude who can do a little bit of everything.

On the floor it's probably going to be Hood. He can shoot, make plays, play D, lead the break, pass, etc. He just has to get older and stay healthy.

Our team is kind of a glue guy team... all of our big 3 play well with others.

As far as lesser glue guys I think Ingles is a great glue guy. Since the AS break he has shot 45% from the field and 42% from 3. He is a good passer and smart, but limited, defender. He's not on the shane battier glue guy all-stars, but I think we need to bring him back. I think he'll be cheap too.

Hood does a lot of things that mesh well too. Been really happy with his defense... its not been great but was worried after what I witnessed in summer league. He just needs to be healthy for a 10 game stretch so he can get some rhythm and consistency.

Unless the Jazz just get really logjamed with talent from the draft or FA with 2/3s, I'll be upset if Ingles isn't on the team next year. Same with Booker for the 4/5s.

I agree about Ingles and Booker. But Exum I think will come along, and Rudy has a way of getting the guys going (a'la the salute). I think Hayward is learning to be more vocal, but maybe not enough yet. I was glad to see him stand up for his team with the whole Kanter thing though. Favors just lets his game do the talking. His more quiet nature doesn't seem to affect his ability to play like he means it, but it also probably helps him be a good fit here since he's not the big-market-loving diva type. Sure glad for that, because he'll probably be here a long time and be happy about it.

glue = keeps things together
glue does not mean production on the floor.

ingles has to be a glue guy. seems like some one other players like and respect.
booker because he is a team first kind of guy. does a lot of the little things that create respect.

I think Burke tries but is to caustic to be.

Hayward should be but he is to quiet

favors also.

Gobert's enthusiasm is making him a glue guy. he doesn't seems to be a me me type of player. he is quickly becoming a glue guy.

a lot of what makes a glue guy a glue guy happens off the court that we never know about. keeping in contact with the other players, doing things together and tring to help each player be better.

I think there are different types of the "glue guy"

charismatically, the guy is ingles. (team chemistry glue guy)

Attitude-wise, it is the "take-no-****" outlook of booker and gobert. (winner's mentality glue guy)

Well have to bring back jingles because he gives the best interviews and I want to hear what he says after we win the championship. Probably name himself MVP. I'm with fish on this, I love that guy.

Kanter is the new glue guy in OKC! Our glue guys are probably Tomic, Neto, and 2016 first round pick!

Don't know about OKC but Kanter is the new glue guy for the Jazz. Everyone is together and playing better because of their hatred for him (at least in games against the Thunder).

I present to you the OKC (Oklahoma Kanter_do_no_wrong City) fan forum glue guys!

I definitely think it's Ingles. He pulls guys aside and talks to them while on the court. Seems to get along with everyone and is unselfish on the court. He's more vocal than Hayward while on the court. While bringing some of the same skills...just to a lesser degree.
.
I could also make a case for Gobert. He talks a lot to the other guys on the team and his play on defense helps bring the team together on that end.
.
Booker is also a guy I consider a glue guy.
.
For me it seems to be those three in that order.

Besides the obvious Jingles and Booker, I'd say that Gobert is kind of our long term glue guy/leader. He doesn't have a problem communicating and demanding more from his team. He is also doing this as a second year kid who doesn't really have the highest basketball IQ. Just wait for next year and every year after, when he has the experience and higher B-ball IQ.

What makes you think he doesn't have a high basketball IQ. You don't improve like he has with a low basketball IQ.
