Who will have a worse record than the Warriors?

I keep reading all this optimism about the W's, but I just don't see it. They cut Reggie Williams free and amnestied Charlie Bell (great use of amnesty - one year, $4M left on Bell's deal) all to make an offer to DeAndre Jordan, whom the Clips will likely match. They haven't signed their rookies yet pending these FA moves. Right now their core is Lee, Ellis and Curry, with role players like Biedrins, Wright, Amundson and Udoh. In short, same as last year, but some other teams may have improve and I don't think the W's have yet. It doesn't take much for me to imagine them having a pick in the #1 to #7 range, making the Jazz wait a year.

I thought there was a good chance they'd amnesty Biedrins; who still has about 30mil coming. But then they'd have to admit they screwed up giving that bloated contract in the first place.

I actually think that the T-wolves are going to be pretty decent this year. Adleman will get that group to respectability.
 
Bobcats-Kemba may be ROY, but wins will be hard to come by
Cavs-
Nuggets-they have like 6 players on the roster.
Raptors-Hornets
Suns--Nash is old, the others are role players.
Wizards--Wall & Anderson could carry them to some easy wins
Wolves (Unless one of the rookies suprise)
Pistons Lawerence Frank wears on players
 
so if i get the rule of GS pick
in best scenario we have to choose 7 teams worst than GS to take their pick- am I right????

wolves they will certainly be better but not 20 games.
wizards and kings hope one of them

and with 8 pick in 2012 draft UTAH JAZZ select Michael Kid-Gilchrist best defensive SF in draft Corbin type player I hope again
 
I think the Jazz are in pretty good shape to get the GSW pick this year.

Pistons, Raps, Bobcats, and Cavs are all worse IMO.

NO simply doesn't have enough time to put a team together to start getting wins, and I don't think Paul has much patience left to help them. He also lost his best weapon in David West, so the next best player is Okafor. Otherwise they need to add 7 players in the next few weeks, and don't seem to have anyone wanting to go there who is worth a damn. I also think they move Paul midseason and tank away the last few months of games.

Denver is in a terrible position as well. Half their team is in China, they are banking on Andre Miller to carry them, and their go to scorer is Gallo. That is going to be a team that plays hard, but won't get many easy wins.

The Wizards are still too young in my opinion, Wall is good, but I don't really believe in his supporting cast, neither Blatche or McGee are winners IMO, and Vesely won't help right away.

The. You have a whole slew of teams like the Bucks, Jazz, 76ers, Kings and Suns who are a bad stretch or two away from landing in the top 6 of the lottery, and it's bound to happen to one of them.

I actually think coming down to the end of the season the Jazz will likely be in a weird situation where we might be the deciding factor on getting the GSW pick depending on how poorly we finish out the last few weeks of the year. Our head to head match ups could be important for a tie breaker if our records are similar.
 
When I look at GSW, I see a complete disaster. I don't see how anyone sees anything different. There is a real chance this pick either doesn't happen (too ****ty in consecutive years), or GSW is very poor this year and coupled with a nice rookie or two in the draft and some team building (trading Monta Ellis for a not total piece of ****) have a decent yearand the Jazz are left with something in the late teens in a depleted draft.

Oh well, We'll see how it goes. My vote is still to trade Harris, GS pick, and something else nice (that's not one of the untouchable 4) for Jrue Holiday and Nocioni. Even though Philly is probably a lot smarter than that.
 
So this is the thing I can never remember for some reason. Its not how they finish pre-lottery but it's their spot AFTER the lottery process is complete, correct? i.e. if they are the 3rd worst team in the league but they drop to 8th in the lottery, we would get the pick, is that right?
 
So then it obviously helps the cause to have 7 teams worse than the Warriors but isn't required. They could be the 6th worst team and we could still get the pick.

Pretty sure you can only drop 3 spots, but otherwise yeah, what NUMBERICA posted. With that said, rarely does a team in the 5th position drop 3 spots, so I think that realistically we could only get lucky with 7th place. If GS is the 6th worst team in the league this year, I don't think we have much of a chance. I would love to trade this pic and Harris for Holiday, I just don't see that happening.

Well, that's statiscally impossible.
But yes, you are correct. We could be jumping for joy if they finish at #8 and then see them move up to one of the top-3 picks after the lottery. It's a crap shoot with the condensed schedule. Teams could struggle early, or veteran-laden teams could start off hot. Or, with so many games close together, veteran teams without depth could be at a real disadvantage. I could see the Lakers AND Heat finish with unimpressive records, then really turn it on for the playoffs.
 
The odds are that if the Warriors finish with the 7th worst record, the Jazz will get their pick. The Warriors could get the 6th worst record, and there would be an okay chance that one team lower than them would jump them in the lotto and push them back to the 7th spot. However, the best would be for them to finish 7th or 8th from the bottom.

More realistically, I think they'll chase for the playoffs and end up picking in the 10 - 12 range. If they literally had the 7th worst record in the league, I think they would probably try to tank towards the end of the season to get in the draft.
 
The Warriors lost out on Deandre Jordan, who was matched today by the Clips. He would have kept them out of the cellar, now they are in danger of being bottom 7 again imo
 
The Warriors finished 10th or 11th from the bottom last year. They'll probably do about the same this year. They could decide to tank, but it's unlikely with Mark Jackson being a new coach wanting to prove himself. As a team, they're all perimeter. The have minimal interior defense. At least they're getting Biedrens back and Udoh will have more of a full season.
 
I know that a lot of people believe that they will have a terrible season. I disagree for two reasons, they had the 11th pick of the draft last year and their team hasn't had many significant changes.

Has everyone forgotten that Coach Smart was a first year head coach? Nelson was doing whatever he wanted with that team and when he retired Smart tried to change a few things but not much. With all of that they still were a lottery team but outside the top 10. If anything they will get better because they added size in the draft as well as shooting.

I am not saying that they will make the playoffs but I know that there are at least 7 teams in the NBA that will have a record inferior to that of the Warriors.
