Why do we hate Lou Williams and Aaron Brooks again?

As a JazzFanz poster I OBVIOUSLY hate every player in the NBA, and we never want any of them, but remind me what it is we hate about these guys specifically.

Lou Williams is alright, but don't we have a similar player in the budding Alec Burks? (scoring 6th man)

Aaron Brooks is alright, but he's more of a Ronnie Price who can shoot.. nothing wrong with that but I'd rather have Mo Williams. Just a bit more size and he also provides toughness on defense that Brooks doesn't really bring.

I think we hate Brooks cuz he's a hopper or something.

But you're wrong about Williams, cuz we love him. The more players we get with the name Williams, the better chance we have of one of them wearing #8. Then we can all pull out the old D-will jerseys the dog's been sleeping on, or we've been using to wax the car with, and sew whatever initial in front of the Williams.

Good observations. At this point, I'm in favor of standing pat, except if a GREAT deal for Al or Paul arises. I'm not for signing lesser players to longer-term contracts. We want maximum flexibility in next year's FA market. I'd much rather see the Jazz pay $7-$8M on a starter or 6th-man or combine our expiring contracts with picks to get a good veteran or two. We need to look at our core-8. If one of those 8 spots can be significantly improved, then you do it. If not, you go with what you have.

We have 2 young bigs to develop and 2 young wings. I think you stick with those 4. I like Marvin Williams as a true SF vs. the swing wings we've had; let's see how he fits in. Paul is a keeper - if he agrees to an etension. That's 6 + Mo Williams. Another PG, perferably a young one to develop and one great vet. That's the direction we need to go.

I don't hate Lou Williams, but he's looking for more money than any team should realistically give him. That's why Philly signed Nick Young instead.

You always "get" me...........

Whats he looking to get? I really have no idea.

I honestly dont know enough about either to give a fair assessment. Neither are really traditional PG's in the vain of a Stockton/Nash/Kidd, but both are fairly young (Brooks less so but still 27). Brooks shot the 3 well for a few seasons with Houston and Lou is a scoring spark off the bench.

I guess in my mind I'm just trying to look at all avenues for a future PG to match well with this young team going forward. These dudes are far from obvious choices, just wanted to spark some convo along those lines. I'm very much a fan of Mo coming and Harris going but it really is a stopgap approach at this point.

I'm on GlassEater's wagon (now MoTown16) in trying to keep Mo Williams here long term.

He's a Jazz Alumni, he's happy to be in a small town. What I like most is his game is not reliant on him being super athletic. His shots hopefully is always going to be there. I wouldn't mind keeping him and play the Billups type role until we luck out 1 year and he can mentor our future PG.

He's 30 this year - so I think 4 year, $32m should do the trick.

Every vet FA out there at this stage wants big $$$. I suspect KoC is jush fishin' at this point, waiting for all these big signings to happen, at wwhich point there will be more vets released. It's a seller's market now, but will soon become a buyer's market...

I haven't seen any numbers, but from what I read, the Sixers signed Nick Young was because he was cheaper than Lou Williams who was looking for a "long-term, lucrative deal" according to ESPN. Nick Young's deal was 1 year for $6 million.

I think they're both interesting. I'm not a fan of combo guards, though, and with a total dearth of future at the 1, Brooks definitely intrigues me most.

I admit I don't know a lot about him except that he HAS been really good. But you can say that about most NBA players if you get selective enough.

I still associate the name Aaron Brooks with the New Orleans Saints old QB, who was the CJ Miles of Quarterbacks.

It's sort of like the recession. Most who have been released, or otherwise find themselves without a job have unrealistic expectations. Sure, the CEO's still get paid. But mid-management and rank-and-file workers have seen salaries come way down -if they can even find opportunities.
